30 Day fan fiction meme

Doing another challenge because my LJ is lacking on updates. I've been meaning to do this one for a while but I haven't had the time. I dropped studying for a test to do this. Yay for Senior year!

1 - How did you first get into writing fanfic, and what was the first fandom you wrote for? What do you think it was about that fandom that pulled you in?

-It was when I started to get into Fall Out Boy. I was in the phase where I go into the internet and search any little thing about him. I signed up for the Friends or Enemies/Buzznet website and added people that had any Fall Out Boy on their profile. This one girl, Sam, had a fic in her blog and i had no idea what it was. I just thought it was a story about Fall Out Boy and I was immediately intrigued. I wrote my own stories, looked for more stories and viola! I was a fan fic writer. Bandom is the first (and pretty much the only) fandom I wrote for. I was so new into Bandom that the stories kind of made me feel easy and could bond with other fans.

2 - Name the fandoms you’ve written in, and how much you’ve written in that fandom, and if you still write in it.

Bandom. Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, Panic! At The Disco, Cobra Starship. I've written the majority of my stuff between FOB and MCR but lately I've just been writing about My Chem.

3 - For each of the fandoms from day two, what were your favorite characters to write?

Before I start, I want to say that I love writing people who are different from me because it's a challenge.
Fall Out Boy - Pete Wentz because sometimes he's vulnerable and then he's hyper. He's depressed or has the world on his shoulders and  the writer kind of has to show that through the smiles he always wears and that's fun.
My Chemical Romance: Frank Iero because he's funny! :)
Panic!: Brendon Urie, I guess.  Cobra: Gabe Saporta. you try writing Gabe, it's hilarious.

4 - Do you have a “muse” character, that speaks to you more than others, or that tries to push their way in, even when the fic isn’t about them? Who are they, and why did that character became your muse?

The only 'muse' characters I would have are Mikey Way and Patrick Stump because I have major crushes on them.

5 -If you have ever had a character try to push their way into a fic, whether your “muse” or not, what did you do about it?

Probably but only because they were important to the plot but not necessary. I would write out the truly necessary part so I can delay the character.

6 - When you write, do you prefer writing male or female characters?

I'm so used to writing for male characters because Bandom is basically all male but Female characters are so much easier. I don't have to worry about what guys do or if it's similar to what a 17 year old girl does.

7 - Have you ever had a fic change your opinion of a character?

Oh dear lord, so many times. There were these amazing fanfic writers who had their own site (they took it down to pursue non-fanfic writing) where they would just cast the members in My Chemical Romance in horrible positions like Mobsters, Killers, Kidnappers and Rapists. It sounds REALLY bad but the stories are amazing. :)

8 - Do you write OCs? And if so, what do you do to make certain they’re not Mary Sues, and if not, explain your thoughts on OCs.

I do. I don't go out of my way to make sure my OC are Mary Sues but there's a bit of me in every OC I write. I'm not like a mary sue, i would like to believe, so my OCs aren't terribly unoriginal.

9 - Pairings - For each of the fandoms from day two, what are your three favorite pairings to write?

:3 Pete/Patrick, Frank/Mikey, OFC/Mikey (or Brendon/Spencer)

10 - Pairings - Have you ever gone outside your comfort zone and written a pairing you liked, but found you couldn’t write, or a pairing you didn’t like, and found you could?

Huh, yes actually. I've written Gabe/Andy which I've never thought I would do and that was fairly easy. Frank/Ray was another i found weird but found semi-easy. I didn't finish the story unfortunately.

11 - Genre - do you prefer certain genres of fic when you’re writing? What kind do you tend to write most?

AU's are what I love to read and what I love to write. Just thinking about a different world, career choice or gender for someone you know a lot about is awesome. It's more imagination you can use.

12 - Have you ever attempted an “adaptation” fic of a favorite book or movie but set in a different fandom?

I can't do movies or books. I feel like I can't do it justice. :/

13 - Do you prefer canon or fanon when you write? Has writing fanfic for a fandom changed the way you see some or even all of the original source material?

Canon. It's changed the way I've seen the bands in an annoying way. I see myself questioning why they do behind the camera and it might be a bit sad if I think about it.

14 - Ratings - how high are you comfortable with going? Have you ever written higher? If you’re comfortable with NC-17, have you ever been shocked by finding that the story you’re writing is G-rated instead?

I've written from everything between G and NC-17. I'm used to NC-17 a lot but if I find a G rated one, it would be nice because it's a change of pace.

15 - Warnings - What do you feel it most important to warn for, and what’s the strangest thing you’ve warned for in a fic?

I'm horrible with warnings. I feel like you should warn the reader with out giving to much away. I'm not sure what weird thing I warned people for. UM. Zombies?

16 - Summaries - Do you like them or hate them? How do you come up with them, if you use them?

I fucking hate them. i have to use them so I can draw people in but it's hard because you don't want to give away the plot but you have to give the reader something. When I write a summary I have to think about the gist of the story and try to for a few sentences for that.

17 - Titles - Are they the bane of your existence, or the easiest part of the fic? Also, if you do chaptered fic, do you give each chapter a title, or not?

I hate titles too but they are much easier than summaries. I wouldn't give a chapter their own title. Power to the people who do.

18 - Where do you get the most inspiration for your fics (aka “bunnies”) from?

Stuff I just think about or real things that I want to see my characters to experience. Movies and TV shows help.

19 - When you have bunnies, do you sit down and start writing right away, or do you write down the idea for further use?

I write down the idea so I can work the gears out in my head. I write them down and if I can't sleep, I flesh out the ideas there.

20 -Do you ever get bunnied from other people’s stories or art in the same fandom?

Oh Yes! but if I actually write the story, I credit them or link to their work.

21 - Sequels - Have you ever written a sequel to a fic you wrote, and if so, why, and if not, how do you feel about sequels?

I have. As you write you get better so every time I write a sequel, I usually find it better than the original.

22 - Have you ever participated in a fest or a Big Bang? If so, write about your favorite experience in relation to one. If not, are there any you’ve thought about doing? And if not, why not?

I haven't. I don't feel that I'm good enough or have the discipline to write that much.

23 - When you post, where do you post to? Just your journal? Just an archive? Your own personal site?

I post all over the place. I post here, ficwad, AO3, mibba, Tumblr (rarely), and now figment. When myspace was big I used to do it there to.

24 - Betaing - How many betas do you like to use to make sure there aren’t any major flaws in your fic? Do you have a Beta horror story or dream story?

This is the problem with my stories. I have no Betas. :|

25 - Music - Do you listen to music while you write? Do you make playlists to get into a certain “mood” to write your fic? Do you need noise in general? Or do you need it completely quiet?

It doesn't really matter if I listen to music or not. I just write no matter what circumstance. I do remember writing a story once but then getting distracted because I was making a playlist for another potential story.

26 - What is the oddest (or funnest) thing you’ve had to research for a fic?

Heroin reactions. Yeah. No. Wait. it's between that or Rape organizations.

27 - Where is your favorite place to write, and do you write by hand or on the computer?

It doesn't matter where I write but if I had to pick a place, I guess my room. I write by hand most of the time.

28 - Have you ever collaborated with anyone else, whether writing together, or having an artist work on a piece about your fic?

I have. I've worked with Sam, the girl who pretty much introduced me to fanfiction on this chapter fic. We wrote every other chapter. Recently, I gave a prompt to an artist and took her drawing as inspiration for my fic if that counts.

29 - What is your current project or projects?

I had asked people to give me prompts to fill. That was two months ago but I'm working on them. I've already done one.

30 - Do you have a favorite fic you’ve written? What makes it your favorite? And don’t forget to give us a link!

I'm not sure what my favorite fic is right now. Umm, i guess it has to be Decaying Nightmare. I like writing about supernatural creatures just because it'll be interesting to experience. The My Chem boys are in the middle of a Zombie apocalypse and stuck in abandoned house for the time being.

cool story bro, actual journal post, challenge, fiction
