I have no idea why I'm writing my 'review' for it four months after it's release but this isn't really a review. It's more a realization. This album is really fucking amazing. It didn't take me four months to realize it but every time I play Danger Days on my iPod or on my radio, my heart just gets heavy with emotion and pride.
Every time one of my favorite bands release an album, my expectations and hopes are low. I know that bands grow up as people and their sound might mature with them, taking a completely different approach from the sound they started with (That I love.) So when my Danger Days CD arrived (a day late. -__-), I sat in my room and listened to it. I heard every single song, sang along with 'NaNaNa' and 'The Only Hope For Me Is You', freaked out when the Star Spangled Banner started to play during 'Goodnite, Dr. Death' and smiled when I heard Ray, Frank and Mikey talk in 'Vampire Money'. I can't tell you if I liked it the first time I heard the whole album but I can tell you that it was different from 'The Black Parade.'
After hearing it multiple times, I started to really get the lyrics and smiling at how clever Gerard could be and how dance-able the songs were. What I completely forgot over the time they have been recording is that THEIR SONGS WILL STAY IN YOUR MIND AND RAPE YOUR SANITY. Not that it's a bad thing. The only thing you would be able to do is relate any single thing back to Danger Days. I was trying to get Danger Days out of my head so I can listen to other albums but I failed horribly seeing as I'm listening to S/C/A/R/E/C/R/O/W right now.
I'm in love with this album because of the apocalyptic world they created. Killjoys? Draculoids? A brain washing corporation named Better Living Industries? COUNT ME IN!
They were really creative in promoting this and the album itself is amazing. The writing/lyrics is something that I think about when I'm bed even if I'm not listening to Gerard serenade me to sleep.
"Will you mean it when the end comes reeling?" - Bulletproof Heart
"Ladies and gentlemen, Truth is now acceptable, Fame is now injectable. Process The Progress." -Planetary (Go!)
"We can live forever if you got the time." -Save Yourself, I'll hold them back.
"Love won't stop this bomb."- S/C/A/R/E/C/R/O/W
"You can run away with me anytime you want." -Summertime
THE KIDS FROM YESTERDAY. (Just listen to that song. It's all sorts of amazing.)
If it's not the lyrics, it's Ray. The way that man just shreds during Vampire Money is like your ears are having orgasms for four minutes straight. That man is talented. Point blank. Your argument is invalid. You also can't tell me that the songs on this albums doesn't want to make you jump up and dance or just incredibly hyper. Have you not heard 'Planetary (Go!)'? Now I'm just rambling.
Well, the whole point of this was to say that My Chemical Romance has done it again. They won me over with their smart lyrics I can relate to and the mind blowing melodies they create which my emotions work into over drive. I feel nostalgic when I hear The Kids From Yesterday, Hardcore when I listen to Destroya and loving when Summertime starts to play.
I love Danger Days. ♥
