I haven't written in this for SO long!

My apologies for not having written for so, so long, but you see, right after that last entry I was abducted by a tall, thin man who calls himself 'the Doctor' and travels around the universe in a blue box that's bigger on the inside than it looks on the outside.  So I've been travelling all over the universe with him for the last 8 months or so.  He meant to drop me off right at the time he'd picked me up, but obviously this was as close as he could get.  So, here I am, back again.

And if only a word of that were true.  I do have a little TARDIS-shaped USB hub sitting next to my computer on the desk, but that's about as far as it goes.  I've been very, very busy recently, working and the like.  I was offered a job at my old primary school in a Grade 1/2 class, but unfortunately I found out that I'm really not suited to an early years class, so together with my principal we came to the mutual decision to end my contract early and I'm going back to CRT work next term.  It's school holidays at the moment, so I have some time to figure out what I want to do, where I want to go, etc.  She also suggested that I might want to think about some junior secondary work, so that I could also use my computer skills.  Early years primary doesn't really require them, see.  So I shall go around the secondary schools after the school holidays, as long as I don't find something sooner that I like even better.  We'll see where we get to, eh?

Not much else has really been happening, most of my time having been taken up with planning for school and such.  Curtain Call did recently put on their annual show, which I was in, of course.  It was called Once Upon a Time, about a Prince and Princess (Cinderella's son and Snow White's daughter) who are about to get married, but are separated by the Wicked Witches, East and West.  The story's about them trying to find their way back to each other, meeting all sorts of fairytale characters along the way.  Great, great fun, but I was exhausted after the rehearsals and three shows.  Was a very packed few days.  I'm sick at the moment, actually, but fortunately I seem to be getting over whatever it is I've got and Mum seems to have caught it now.  I seem to have been sick a lot this year, probably from working so closely with the kids.

About the most exciting other thing that's happened was that Mum and I went to see Wicked in June with Curtain Call -- it was AWESOME, and anyone in Australia who hasn't seen it yet, go and see it when it gets to you.  We got both the lead Elphaba (Amanda Harrison) and her understudy on the night we went, because evidently Amanda wasn't well, so the understudy took over after interval.  She was good too, though.  Lucy Durack was very good as Glinda, too.  Was thinking her voice might annoy me a bit, but it didn't in the end.  Think my favourite songs would have to have been 'Defying Gravity' and 'Popular'.  I love singing the former, although towards the end it gets a bit too belty for me.  I loved seeing the origins of the Scarecrow and Tin Man too -- very clever.  I might write up a proper review at some stage, if I can ever be bothered.

This weekend I do believe we're off to Melbourne.  It's Grand Final weekend and we're going to watch it with some friends.  Well ... Mum and Dad might.  I've never been all that interested in football, but I don't know about Jenny and Paul's kids; they might want to watch it.  I'll have to make sure I take a book or some pencils and paper with me.  I leave you now, with an icon of my favourite Doctor (David Tennant) and the promise to start writing in this more from now on!
