Now, how to begin ... was most saddened on Wednesday to hear of the untimely death of rising star, popular Aussie actor Heath Ledger. Although I would not count him among my favourite actors, there was no denying his great talent, and it's always sad to see someone pass away so young, being only 28. I also feel terribly sorry for his little daughter. He will be sorely missed.
As I said above, today is the day that all proud Aussies celebrate, so I was up at the crack of dawn (ie 7am) to get to the Lion's Club hall for the Australia Day breakfast, at which the band were playing. It's usually pretty good, I enjoy playing the few Australiana songs that we have, and we get a free breakfast thrown into the bargain, so it's worth getting up early for. And now it feels like it should be about 4pm, when in reality it's only 1:20pm, and therefore also almost time for me to start watching the tennis, I think. It's the women's final today; should be good.
On the subject of the tennis, it's really been a surprise! Lleyton was knocked out by Djokovic, of course, and Casey was knocked out by ... was it Jankovic? I can't remember now. Anyway, they're both gone, and the last two nights the top two men's seeds were knocked out, Rafael Nadal by UNSEEDED Jo Wilfried Tsonga and last night Roger Federer by Djokovic. I take some comfort at least in the fact that the guy who beat Lleyton has now made it all the way. I do have to support Tsonga now, though, because Lleyton was knocked out. :P My lucky father gets to go to the final tomorrow with work, so he'll have a good time watching, while I'll just have to be flicking between the tennis and the cricket on the couch at home! Why's it all on together? Although to be fair, the cricket should have finished by the time the actual men's final comes on.
I think I've finally got my computer back to the way I wanted it after I had to do that complete system restore at the end of November. There are still a couple of games that I want to install and a few things to sort into various folders to tidy up the desktop, but I'm happy with it now. I just gotta be careful what I download to make sure that it doesn't catch a virus. S'good for now.
Right, lunch and the women's final calls, so I'll be off. Will post again soon if I have any news.
