Festivities and Facebook.

It's been a little while since I wrote anything in here, properly, I mean, so I thought that tonight I'd update you all on what's going on in my little corner of the world.  So, here we go, peoples.

We'll start with Christmas and New Year.  Despite being far too hot, both were very pleasant.  I did quite well at Christmas: chocolate, a desk lamp, a bag, a watch, some shower gel/soap/hand cream, an iTrip (to listen to my iPod through my car speakers), a little money and a lovely blouse that'll come in very handy for any interviews and for when I'm actually teaching.  We opened presents at home, then spent Christmas Day at my Uncle and Aunt's in Melbourne, but we were only there for the afternoon because Mum had to work Christmas night, so we had to come back.  That weekend we spent at Balnarring with some friends of my parents, and that consisted of Wii bowling and tennis and Sambuca. :D  The Wii is SO MUCH FUN!  Had a bit of a sore arm afterwards, though, 'cause I had to do everything with the one arm.  New Year we spent here, again with the afore-mentioned friends of my parents and their children, and a work colleague of Mum's and her partner.  Much fun.  Food, dancing and more Sambuca, then party poppers, blower things and sparklers at midnight.  I just loove the Christmas-New Year holiday.

Let me tell you, though, that not going to bed until almost 3am then having to get up to be in Maryborough (about an hour's drive away) at 10:30pm is NOT fun.  Especially not in the hot, hot weather we had yesterday.  Add to that the heat playing havoc with our tuning and the wind playing havoc with our music, and you might get a sense of what it was like.  Playing out in the middle of the oval in the full sun (it must have been almost 40 degrees, I think) is NOT fun.  But we survived and I had an ice-cream thrown into the bargain, so it was a good day overall.  I slept late this morning, though!  And the only problem with having New Year here is the mess that we have to clean up, which was done today, in the much cooler weather, before it's supposed to get hotter again tomorrow.  This weekend, although I'm not sure it's actually been arranged yet, I think we're going to Balnarring again, which should be good.  Maybe (if we go) I'll take my bathers with me and go for a swim, because the house is very close to the sea and it's supposed to be very hot on Saturday.  Being by the sea, however, it's not quite as warm as it would be at home, but I'm not too picky on how hot it is to go for a swim.  I'm sure it will be warm enough.  More Wii bowling and tennis may be incorporated in there too.  Fuuuuuuuuuuun!

My current online obsession is this evil website known as Facebook.  I spend much more time on there than must be healthy, but it's very easy to keep in touch with friends who are on there, and it's put me back in touch with two of my very best friends from primary school who no longer live around here and whom (one in particular) I have missed and haven't seen in years, so it can't be all bad.  Two of the applications in particular are a lot of fun: a game called Mental Blocks and an application called Scratch and Win, which is basically online scratch tickets and is FAR too addictive.  I'm currently over there selling back a lot of prizes for more tokens to buy more prizes.  I'm sure I've added all those from LJ that I know have an account, but if there's anyone who doesn't, go and join, or if you already have, look me up.  If you search for my e-mail address (sapphiresnitch@yahoo.com.au), you'll find me.  I've also been on a bit of an icon-making spree of late, so be sure to check out this post over at my capping journal for many musical theatre icons (with more to come) and keep an eye out for a couple of new sets coming.

Right.  I've said all I wanted to; I'm off to go spend these tokens and maybe wander out to see what's on television tonight.  Or I might just play Mental Blocks ... stupid addictive games. XD
