great nonetheless
shelly came down from seattle today for a visit. she's going to stay with us until tuesday or wednesday to help us with unpacking and all that good stuff. it was really nice to have jess' mom in town for a few days, especially right now as i'm missing my mom and worrying about her so much... she came out of surgery okay on thursday, but it's still freaking me out a little, and being able to get in some quality mom time this week, even if it isn't with my mom has been pretty great.
when she got in we walked to muddy's for lunch and stopped at the rose garden on the way. on the way home we stopped off at peninsula park and taught sherie how to swing... how she never learned is beyond me, but it was pretty damn fun. how can you not have a good time on a swing? i think it's a guaranteed smile inducer. at least it is for me.
on the way home we made friends with an artist who's studio is on albina... bought some artwork and talked about her community garden. she and her boyfriend were absolutely amazing, and before we left they were offering to outfit our house until the movers show up with all of our stuff.
then we came home and painted the kitchen, it's now a beautiful, bright, tangeriney/marigold color. it's been a lovely day. hopefully tomorrow (second coat of paint + blues fest) will be equally as wonderful.
