I haven't got UK citizenship sorted yet. I have permanent leave to remain. But that doesn't enfranchise one to vote.

I have tickets for 'You Have Been Watching' recordings on Monday and on Tuesday. At White City in London.

supermouse stayed from Monday after Easter to Friday. She got us to the William Morris museum, which is a short walk from where I live, and I had never been to before. It is interesting and has pretty things in it.
I've had a

derryderrydown stay a night.
I like having guests. I like my friends, and some of those who live far-away need a place to stay in London sometimes. I like the motivation to make the flat a bit cleaner and tidier. I always worry it's not good enough. It probably isn't. I wish I had more tidying-and-cleaning tuits.
I also like not having guests, it's calmer and I get to talk to the beloved.

Today I made an attempt at mayonnaise, from a recipe on livejournal:
beat one egg yolk (warm helps, but not necessary) with 1/2 t. dijon-style mustard for a minute. should be a little sticky.
measure out 1/3 c. oil (maybe 1/2 good olive, 1/2 vegetable).
drizzle a few drops oil into the egg yolk. whisk 15 seconds to incorporate. then add a half teaspoon of oil, whisk 15 seconds. then another. whisk 30 seconds, to make sure it's all combined. then a whole teaspoon. whisk 30 seconds. then another teaspoon. whisk 30 seconds. then the rest, one or maybe (!) two teaspoons at a time. after 1/4 c. or so, it should start to tighten up into something thick. keep going (or stop then, if you like).
then add 1 t. fresh lemon juice. whisk some more. maybe add a little salt & pepper.
5 minutes to mayonaisse bliss.
Which is a comment here:
http://community.livejournal.com/failed_recipe/26651.html I added a little too much lemon-juice, I think, and it didn't come out exactly right, but it was not bad, I think, for a first attempt. I might try it again.
I did it all by hand, with a whisk. Next time, I'll go for the electric whizzy thing.
