We've had unseasonally warm weather the last few weeks, after the sudden snap of snow a few weeks back. This weekend should see a return to form, Saturday is expected to reach 3 degrees celsius. Actually it should be fun, one of my colleagues from the US recently arrived in the UK after a couple of years in Germany, he's having a Thanksgiving party a week early (to coincide with a visiting friend of his) which should be lots of fun.
The present economic climate can be unnerving, some of our clients are having difficulty, although others have proven resilient. I got a phone call from a recruiter asking if I was back on the market having noted that one of the companies that had made me an offer was shedding staff. Poor Chus spends her days studying, jobs are scare, even interviews are hard to get into, I was lucky to get in when I did, and lucky to join a company with fairly long range revenue security underpinned by subscriptions.
I should be an uncle again with a week, this time my sisters expecting a girl. I should get back to Australia in the Southern Spring.
What else is news? Not much really. I've developed a fairly "early to bed early to rise" life style, long walks are my weekend passtime. I went to see a band last week, they were fun, but outside of work I haven't really gotten to know many people.
I don't like my house, it's North facing and cold, and perhaps more importantly I don't like my suburb, I do love the trees and there are some beautiful parks within a short walk, but I don't feel the people have anything to do with me.
Artistically I've done little recently, I've been playing low whistle, sketching a little. I give more energy to professional study, tomcat and hibernate, patterns and refactoring, things like that which are really to solidify my resume. Outside of work my reading has been mainly history and natural-history, and some old favourite novels (Robert Holdstock).
