Dongwoo wasn't the type to fall for people easily. He had his fair amount of confessions, of course, with his bright personality that just pulled people closer without a choice. The reaction was always the same. He would smile at the person and push her away, apologizing for not being to reciprocate her feelings and move on, leaving the person behind.
It wasn't a good way of rejection, it was actually a pretty bad one to Dongwoo. But Dongwoo thought that if he let the person down too gently, she might get the wrong idea and start to hope again, and the last thing he wanted to give someone was false hope.
Myungsoo.. Myungsoo was something else entirely. Dongwoo didn't think much of the kid, not even when they had their nightly walks back to their homes. He was clumsy in all ways, with his words and his actions, Dongwoo couldn't help but laugh in wonder at how Myungsoo wasn't injured from all the falls he had taken in his lifetime. Dongwoo would have to be blind if he didn't notice how much Myungsoo blushed whenever he was near him, how Myungsoo would wait for him to walk up to his door before he left for his own, how he always forced Woohyun to leave a plate of breakfast for Dongwoo when he was running late for work and didn't have time to eat. Dongwoo noticed how hard Myungsoo was falling for him.
Kid probably doesn't even know that himself, Dongwoo thought, wiping the dishes for Woohyun to put the food on for the customers. Dongwoo had resumed work the day before, Myungsoo's mood clearly lifted when he saw Dongwoo come through the front door. He was okay with Myungsoo liking him but the problem was, did he like him back? "Hey.." Dongwoo looked up to see just the person he was thinking about. "Oh hey, I was just doing dishes duty.." Myungsoo stifled a laugh at the face Dongwoo was making, his glasses slightly askew from running around taking orders.
"I was thinking, do you want to walk home with me tonight?" Dongwoo blurted out before he could stop himself. What are you doing, Jang Dongwoo? He said in his head, waiting for Myungsoo's reply. "Oh, of course I'll walk home with you, hyung." Dongwoo felt like he was going crazy at the rate his heart was beating.

The nights were getting colder as it became winter and that night wasn't any different. The 2 boys shivered under multiple layers of clothing, both trying to walk home as fast as possible to escape the cold, yet also unknowingly slowing down so that they could talk more. "Its getting really cold.." Myungsoo whispered, his breath coming out in puffs and condensing in the dry air. "Yeah you should really get more winter clothing, what you're wearing is definitely not enough.." Dongwoo replied, worry showing on his face. "Nah, I rather spend the money on books, I'll survive."
Even though he did have layers of clothes on, Myungsoo didn't own any thermal wear or coats that could keep the cold out. His hands were exposed without gloves to protect them. Dongwoo stared at the hand dangling by Myungsoo's side, hardly hearing anything Myungsoo was saying about his school work. "I mean, the course has become much easier since I started reading that textbook you told me about, but it still confuses me sometimes- Dongwoo.. What are you doing?" Myungsoo's face was a blank when Dongwoo picked up his hand with his own and rubbed it, giving it warmth. "Your hand, its so cold.." Dongwoo blew warm air on it and took off his gloves, handing them over to Myungsoo.
"Here, take mine, I don't need them."
"What, no, I don't need gloves, I'm perfectly fine." Myungsoo pushed away Dongwoo's hands, blushing madly at this action.
"Well then maybe you'd... like to hold my hand instead?" Dongwoo said quietly, looking away from Myungsoo and missing the surprised look on the younger boy's face.
Myungsoo took Dongwoo's hand and held it gently in his own. He then put on a smile brighter than the sun, widening it when he saw it mirrored in Dongwoo's face.
"Let's go home."
