I took Action Figure Xander to see Star Trek Babiez! tonight. Afterward, he said he would have liked more Klingons, but he realized this isn't that story, so it was okay. I think he was just geekapointed that he wouldn't get to check the accuracy of any subtitles while Klingons were speaking. Overall, he loved it, I agreed, and now the two of us are trying to figure out how to convince my mom that she shouldn't let her loyalty to TOS actors keep her from realizing how great the *characters* are.

Do you think people in fandom people are more likely to be able to see past the actor part of the equation and center on the canon and characters? (ETA What clued me in to the issue with my parents was that they almost always say "Spock" when they mean Leonard Nimoy and "Kirk" when they mean Shatner.)
