From the Fourth Doctor episode "The Ark in Space":
With Sarah busy showing off her talent for unconsciousness, Harry takes his opportunity.
"I'm here for you, Doctor." I'm bending over the table! God, why doesn't he notice me?
"Really, Harry? Are you sure?"
OMG! "I don't think I can make my eyes any come-hitherier."
"Well, I thought you'd never ask!"
(Guys. We can still see you.)
The Doctor enjoys a few post coital jelly babies while Harry steals a passionate yet still insecure glance.
I also thought this, Tom Baker speaking in the commentary, was nice. I'm sure it's applicable to any fandom that's been around the block:
It was the best job I *ever* had. ...I was once a Doctor Who. And fans, you see, fan love in a sense is *superior* to to human love, because here we get tired of each other, we get divorced and bored with each other, but the dedicated fans-never get bored. ...They never say, 'My god, he looks a fat old lump now. And he's dyeing his hair white!' They don't say that. They say, you know, 'You were my hero, man.' Or whatever it is. And, in other words, nostalgia is the Never-Never Land, isn't it, where no one grows any older.
I like that he has so much affection and appreciation for it, while implicitly acknowledging that "fan love" isn't really "human."
I finally finished watching the Academy Awards. Whatever Judi Dench was doing trailing her fingers along the inside of Cate Blanchett's arm, I want to see MORE.
