Aww! Adorable!Cat is adorable! That is such a cute picture.
And the overpackaging! My giddy aunt! I think that wins the prize! At least cardboard is recyclable.
Major bummer about the caffeine intolerance :-( Out of interest I put "caffeinated product" into Google and got a ton of websites back. Maybe there is something else out there that you could get your fix from?
Life without hearing purring. That makes me sad...
Have a GREAT weekend and enjoy a very well-deserved rest.
I'm not sure it's actually the caffeine I'm intolerant of, because when I switched to decaf coffee and tea, it didn't make much difference. (And yet due to the unpredictability factor, occasionally I can drink tea and coffee fine!) It must be something about acid or tannins or... I don't know. I suppose I could drink caffeinated sodas, but I really dislike them. Eh, I actually don't need caffeine at all, usually -- only in the summer because my schedule makes me so exhausted, and yet I really don't have the luxury of resting. I'm sure I'll survive!
Thank you! ::hugs:: I hope things go well for you this weekend!
rusty, have you tried putting a little bit of cream (actual heavy cream) in your coffee or tea? My understanding is that it cuts the acidity, as does the non-dairy creamers, which are chemically designed to do just that. But, IMO, cream is tastier, and provides some protein at the same time. In fact during the week, that's my breakfast: some herbal tea with cream in it, and some sugar-free Torani syrup to make it not taste like tea.
Yup! That's the way I drink them, though cream tastes too rich in tea, to me, so I just use milk. My coffee has always been at least half milk, or I can't drink it. Heh. Actually I've come to like no-sugar-added soy milk better than cow's, for coffee, and the best thing about it, I think, is what you mentioned, the protein. Honestly, even when it's just herbal coffee I'm drinking, I kind of think the whole purpose is just to flavor the hot milk. :) I bring a briefcase bottle of it to my classes and the protein gets me through the morning until lunch. I've found if I don't, I'm all shaky by noon. And I like it without sweetener, so I'm not relying on that quick sugar bump for energy. (I know sugar free sweetener could do the same thing, but I've never liked the flavor of those.)
There have been times when I couldn't drink cow's milk, either, but soy milk would actually settle my stomach.
