last night was way fun
our youth group went on a night hike up to indians playground. its a rad 3 mile hike up and down through rocks and stuff and all through a tunnel of shurbbery (.....poisen oak???.....) there was no moon and only a few flashlights. it made for a lot of good slips and branch-in-the-face collisions. and a lot of catherine saying "following the sounds of my clapping!" when we got to "the top" we could see all of santa barbara and the lit up oil drilling rigs out in the ocean, along with lots of stars. it was so beautiful. we prayed and sang a couple songs then headed back. on the way back, felipe, catherine and i got seperated and wanted to try the hike with no light at all. it was so funny. we couldnt see a thing! just a lot of feeling out what was in front of you and hoping for the best. at one point i was leading and i ran into a big tree. felipe turns on the light at reveals that we're in the middle of a bunch of bushes and not actually on the trail. it was funny. i kept getting poked in the eye, catherines beanie kept getting grabbed off by branches and felipe kept slipping and falling. "OH MY EYE!" "OH SHEESH!" "MY HAT! IM TELLING YOU!!" "WHOA OW!" "OW A POKIE!" "whats that smell?!" ...noises coming from the darkness of the forest.
after we got back from the church, phil, catherine, felipe, peter, jessica, jennifer and i decided to go hang out down on the pier. so we went down and parked on the warf. we hung out, walked around, phil and felipe jumped off stuff.... we then started walking down castillo...the road that goes along the beach and played at a park. took pictures of a baby opossum phil found. snuck around the double tree. fell in fountains. found good places for the bums to sleep. realized that all this walking was making us tired...or was it because it was 12?
anyway. so im just chillin today because i work the dumb shift. 4:30 to 10:30. about the time everybody gets off work. its so nice outside though! in the 70s for sure.
i guess the callaways will be arriving here in santa barbara monday or tuesday night. it will be rad to see them. a little bit of oregon comin on down. i have no idea what all we will be doing, but what the heck? isnt that just my life? well im getting way restless sitting here so im leaving.
