It's so kind of you to share some of your reactions to the story, raven714! Your feedback means a LOT to me! :-D

Even Gisburne, who was unaccustomed to such work, seemed more relaxed. Loxley thought that even a man like Gisburne could appreciate such necessities as food and shelter, especially after those two nights they had spent in a cold, cramped cave near the Loire. - Certainly, I would also appreciate the food and the roof over my head - and not just in winter.

Yes, it has to be hard camping out in the woods and relying on caves for shelter -- whether it's winter or not. While life on a medieval farm wouldn't be easy, they'd be better sheltered and fed most of the time. Having Loxley and Gisburne live and work on a farm during the winter made the most sense to me.

Gisburne had been in the woods chopping wood with some of the villagers. - Well, he already has some practice with ax and wood chopping (Lord of the Trees) :-D

I have to admit that Gisburne's previous experience chopping wood did occur to me while I was writing! Sadly, I couldn't think of a way to refer to "The Lord of the Trees" that wouldn't distract readers from the events of this story. *g*

Gisburne was bent over double, hands on his knees, trying to catch his breath. - So probably like me, after I ran for the bus. :-D

Or me after running anywhere... ;-)

Gisburne leaned on the fence as if he was in dire need of its support. “A-a dragon. I saw a dragon.” - Yay, dragon! grondfic will like it.

I knew I had to work a dragon into the story somehow if I was writing something for grondfic. I was also happy that I ended up needing to use footnotes. That seemed very fitting as well, though my footnotes could never compare to the scholarly footnotes that grondfic uses in her stories and other written works.

“Guy,” Loxley said, “you do realize that what you’re saying is utterly ridiculous, don’t you?”
“I saw it.”
“A dragon?”
“Yes!” :-D

This might be my favourite bit of dialogue. I definitely had a lot of fun writing that scene. :-)

“In the woods?”
“Well, of course it was in the woods. Where else would you expect to find a dragon?” - Hmm, let me think about it. Perhaps by the sea, on the icy plains or in the desert. It depends on the species of dragon. :-D

LOL! Touché. I guess Gisburne's knowledge of dragons is pretty limited. You'd think he'd know more about them being a knight and all.

Loxley closed his eyes and took a deep breath. “There is no such thing as dragons.”
Gisburne glared at Loxley. “I know that. I knew that before today, before I saw....saw it. You believe in forest gods and women who can turn into horses. Why shouldn’t dragons exist?” - Sure, why they shouldn't exist. :-)

It seems like a perfectly logical argument to me. *g*

“Well, it made a loud, hissing sound,” Gisburne said. “I heard this hissing sound before flames burst through the trees.”
Loxley raised a skeptical eyebrow. “Are you certain it wasn’t an actual fire? :-D

I'm not sure why Loxley was so skeptical after Gisburne was able to provide such compelling evidence. ;-)

Gisburne shook his head. “I saw a tail.”
“A tail?”
Gisburne blushed. “Yes, a-a dragon’s tail. And don’t ask me if it might have been a snake because the tail was barbed.” :-D

Once again, Gisburne presents all of this evidence, only to be scoffed by Loxley. What the hell, Wolfshead?

Loxley sighed and wondered if he would need to find a physician. - Definitely yes. Guy needs at least a psychologist and a psychiatrist. :-D

LOL! Oh, yeah! BIG time! Guy needs all the help he can get! *g*

It was all wonderful and great, I enjoyed it.

I'm so happy that you enjoyed the story, raven714! Thanks again for taking the time to leave me such wonderful feedback! :-D

Hi again, rusty_armour.
I see I didn't respond to your comment. I am sorry for that. I certainly wanted to, but I wasn't well and then I forgot.

I guess Gisburne's knowledge of dragons is pretty limited. You'd think he'd know more about them being a knight and all. - Guy only knows Welsh Green dragon and maybe Hebridean Black dragon. :-D

I'm not sure why Loxley was so skeptical after Gisburne was able to provide such compelling evidence. ;-)
- Loxley thinks: "God knows what he saw. He's a totally unreliable witness."

"And don’t ask me if it might have been a snake because the tail was barbed.” - Hmm, that it would be Hungarian Horntail dragon? Or maybe a dinosaur. :-D

Guy needs all the help he can get! - You´re right. Would Guy like the Rorschach test? :-D
