maybe it was just the end of the line for her
she can't suffer anymore, so in a way that makes me feel better
she made little whimpering noises in her sleep and twitched around... sometimes she'd growl and we'd have to go check to see if she was awake
she would always just be dreaming
rightly so, she'd never let the cat get on aunt lisa's bed
i remember when mom would have to wake me up when we lived by ourselves
she would let kinder out really early in the morning
when they'd come in i would hear this little jingling
it would get louder and louder until i could hear the little paws tapping the floor in time with it
then all of a sudden... ching... she'd pop up onto the bed
she'd run right up to my groggy face, breathing faster than any other creature could possibly breathe
she'd lick my nose and forehead, and the cold tags on her collar would brush against my cheek
i couldn't help but laugh when i woke up to this...
i still laugh in my sleep, waking up to her
