The opportunity never presented itself.

That said, WoW has made me despise PvP of any kind.

Hey Russta it's Flammy! I also played the open beta as well as most of the closed and really enjoyed the game! Can not wait for retail to get launched in a few days! If you are really planning on playing and have a legion in mind let me know!

P.s. Wow also destroyed pvp for me but when i tried it out on Aion.. well it was very very enjoyable.. and this was only at level 25-30.

It's too early to call that.

When I went to WoW from FFXI, I loved the PvP and would spend days playing Alterac Valley. Compared to Ballista, it was mind blowing. As the years have passed, I've grown to hate the arena system and the constant flip-flopping between classes, balance issues, etc.

One other thing I think a lot of people overlook is the UI. Everyone basically using the same thing in Aion is going to put people on a level playing field if the classes are balanced adequately. At that point you really do know that it was a lack of skill and nothing more that killed you.

PvP in WoW was a sideshow, not even implemented at the games release and could be avoided 100% after if you so chose.

Aion however is built from the ground up around PvPvE. The endgame is abyss, fighting the other faction to fight Balaur. The best endgame instances are joint between the factions, where you race to the end from opposite sides and clash at the final boss, winner take the spoils. Balance is always going to be ongoing an issue, and the server is basically a big ranking system ala original honor ranks: (linky.

I'm going to have to agree with Seva. Based on what youve said so far, this game is going to make you miserable.

That's completely possible and I've accepted that as a potential outcome for me. I do, however, already know that the game is fun enough to warrant the straight up cost of the game and a few months worth of fees though, and if it does make me miserable I'll just call it quits and be happy I had fun playing through it's fun initial system.

I really do believe that it'll be different. Playing in a game that has been built from the scratch with PvP-implemented end game in mind is a massive step in resolving balance issues. It also helps to curb the mentality of all the players who know there's no getting around PvP in this game and have accepted they will have to do it at times and be skilled at it to make any sort of progress.

I am not sure this game will make you miserable. Speaking from a person who actually delved into the game months ago as something to kill an hour or two a day, the game is fun. The improvements that were handed down from Korea with 1.5 are a HUGE step forward for the game in general ( ... )
