Half interested in ffxiv. Probably will only go back if S-EX gives NA their own servers. No offense to the JPs, but after WoW I doubt I can go back to using the auto translator and うはwwおkww'ing.
I prefer having JP on the same server, even though the communication fucking blows, the economy is generally better. You can log in at 3AM and get items on AH for dirt cheap compared to normal NA hours where everything is absolutely gouged. It's ridiculous.
That being said, if I learned anything going into FFXIV, it's that I won't level RDM again. I still regret it to this day, having never quit the lousy game. WoW felt like a step down for me.
I'm with you Klisk, not having an 'offpeak' is a big plus for me since my schedule is crazy/erratic. And S-E did already confirm the servers would be shared again~
I dunno, maybe I just quit too early before the NAs/JPs integrated better (if they ever did), but memories of pretending to be a JP and putting JP search comments just so I could avoid partying with retard NAs is pretty fresh in my mind ...
I've been playing the game a fair bit again after going casual in WoW, and I think a lot of the early JP ONRY mentality probably applied in the same sense that it did when they added Italian to the game system. "Jaja Parties" as they were referred to were quite possibly the worst gamers at the very start, deaths would be commonplace and xp would be terrible, but looking back at what the game was like when I very first started, I would imagine it must have looked very similar to them when the american "Lol Parties" were introduced to the game. Player skill as always plays king in the game with partying, I've been leveling with a Cuban Ninja named Raiyu, spams every single ninjitsu known to man and only loses hate to ranger barrages and my Warcry+WS combos. Did a random group without him with a JP ninja today, me and the ranger pretty much ended up dual tanking together since he couldn't hold hate worth a damn :o
