COOL CAN'T WAIT TO READ IT Haha I used to not to, but then after immersing myself with it--literally, I would go to the school's computer lab and watch shows in style.com and ahemstealahem pages of fashion magazines from my French class. My friends used to call me DAMN STAM because I would talk about her incessantly. My love for it is pretty much enclosed in this one little paragraph I did for a meme:
Fashion, fashion, fashion. Where do I start. Initially, I didn't really care about fashion all that much. I even snorted in a few occasions about the idea of people spending so much money on ugly little dresses when they could be doing something good for the economy. And it took me until I was sixteen years old to realize I had been wrong. Fashion is not really about spending money, or utility; it's about aestheticism, and it's about how beauty can be incorporated into clothing. The idea thrilled me when I exposed myself to it willingly; I began to catch on and actually appreciate the craftsmanship, the hard work, the intricacies that each designer put in their collections, because that's what it really is: how dresses look. I also exposed myself to the branch of fashion known as modeling, and I immediately scoured every single website I could think of to familiarize myself with the models because I knew for a fact that this, fashion, is something I'm passionate about, something I can do without being bored with it, without it seeming so monotonous, something I can look forward to everyday because I know there'll be something new when the sun rises. And that's what fashion is, it changes, and I like changes in fashion. It doesn't bore me for that exact same reason, always something to look forward to. I've recently embraced my drawing abilities (mediocre at best, hehe) after years of laying dormant, and I began to draw my own little collections and crops of models in any sort of paper I could lay my hands upon. And I knew that this is my passion, my true passion: not writing, not cooking, not medicine, but fashion.
Yes. I liked the juxtaposition between the more school-oriented/jocky clothes from his Spring 2010 collection and the more mature clothes of his Fall 2010 one. YES THAT IS A MUST. You have to know the models' names because they always come up in Campaigns and Editorials. Hopefully you've already picked out a favorite when you post the QFK post. I'm curious haha :) YOU ARE WELCOME I'M GLAD TO HELP ALWAYS
If you don't mind, I want to copy that paragraph in my post today. Because that's pretty much where my mind is right now, except for the true passion part - although that might change. ;)
I honestly think that so far Karlie's my favorite, and not just because she was the first one I saw and recognized. She's just so graceful, but fierce at the same time, and is sooo pretty. Again, might change the more I see, but right now, I like her a lot.
Do you plan to go into fashion design at all now that you're going to be in college?
Oh sure! Go on ahead! Haha, yeah. Me too. I thought my passion was drawing for the longest time, but then I found fashion and it went on from there.
Karlie is just so amazing and she had to learn everything by herself. She was thrown into the scene when she was just fifteen years old and to think she grew to be one of the top models of today is just mindblowing. The girl worked hard to be where she is right now and I am so proud of her. Yeah, favorites will change. Adriana Lima was mine when I started, but she stopped doing runway altogether so I switched on to Stam and Karlie.
Haha, I wish. No, I'm going to a culinary school. Fashion is a hard place to make it. I'll have to have so much connections to be given the tiniest speck of attention. Culinary is equally my passion, and funnily enough, for almost the same reasons, and it's easier to make it in there.
Thanks; it just conveys really well the way I've come to see fashion - that's actually how I used to feel about art in general, too, in regards to Picasso and Dali and such. It took an intro to art class and a realization that it's about the aesthetic, worksmanship, and meaning behind it, not about the image itself. But now I appreciate it.
Wow. She seems really accomplished; starting at 15, especially, in such a tough field. I'm impressed. I need to look into Lima, just to see what she was like. :)
I see. Culinary is great, too, though. Food is an art unto itself, with just as much room for improv, innovation, and creation as fashion. Best of luck, sweetheart!
Yes. It's like a clock--it's pretty on the outside, but worlds more interesting on the inside. I'm glad to hear it. :)
Yes. Girls die to be in the same position as her, and I'm so glad she's always so humble and always striving her best. She wasn't much of a big model, but she is, as of now, Victoria's Secret's pride and glory. Without her, all they really have is Alessandra Ambrosio, which, tbh, isn't saying much. She's pretty much inactive, though, but she did walk Givenchy Fall 2009.
Yes, which is the main reason I love it. There's so many things you can make and it doesn't always have to be the same thing. You can take a simple recipe, dig in to your own intuition, and put a spin on it that's original, delectable, and entirely yours. Thanks bb! ♥
