Happy 2009, Everyone!
It's been a long time since I've posted....apologies! End of the semester, a little traveling over Christmas break, getting ready for classes.... you know the routine. I had a bit of a health scare in that they've discovered a small hole in one of my heart valves, but fortunately it doesn't require surgery in the forseeable future. Sure was interesting to trip on the sedatives they gave me for the procedure that determined all that, though! :-p
One of the joys of Christmas break was going to Starbucks many mornings and leisurely reading the New York Times. Although school has started, I was able to do that today as well, because classes were canceled due to the bitter cold (we're expecting a high of -3 today). There was an interesting article in there about a recently-unveiled piece of art in Europe. I found a story about it on BBC, which you can read here. Despite the controversy surrounding it, I think it's interesting how the artists tried to represent each European country.
