University of California, San Diego This week I finished this audio course, which my wife bought at least three years ago. (Her impression is that Professor Lerer is 'full of himself'.) While he may be a bit pompous, I learned a lot from this course.

Pedants and linguists are both descriptive and proscriptive; they not only document language use, but they often attempt to improve it. (Dictionaries often mark certain words as 'low' or 'vulgar'.)
