(no subject)
I started work last week. My job consists of standing out on the street and convincing people to support Save The Children (its a charity.) The job is pretty cool. You go out with a different crew every day so you get to meet a lot of cool new kids. And the kids there really are cool. Four years of Frisch has left a mark on me. When I was first coming in for the interview, and later for the first day of work, I was expecting a repeat of Frisch. The past two years at Frisch I've avoided any social contact with most of the people in our grade (except those that I'm friends with) and after a while I convinced myself that I was anti-social. But I've just proved to myself that I'm not. I'M NORMAL DAMMIT. It's just the whole Frisch atmosphere that bothered me. Now that I'm out I feel so...different. Much free-er..and happier. Anyway, the kids at work are really cool and really easy to talk to and make friends with. So I'm not antisocial. That's the end of that.
On the second day of work I went out with a crew of three girls. Susanna (team captain) Rachel and Pearl (Pearl was the observer. That means its her first day at work and she goes to watch what the captain is doing. Any commission she makes on the first day goes to the captain.) Anyhow, at about one o'clock, the three girls went for their lunch break. I decided to stay behind cause some guy promised he would come back and sign up, and I really needed anything I could get. The lunch break was supposed to last for fifteen minutes. Rachel came back an hour later and told me a craaazy story. Evidently Pearl must have gotten really frustrated with the job, and wasn't doing too well. Susanna and Rachel wanted to get pizza but Pearl was like "no I wanna go to McDonalds."
Susanna: Okay, we'll meet back here.
Pearl: I don't have any money.
Susanna: You didn't bring lunch with you?
Pearl: No.
(Now Susanna is too nice to let Pearl starve. Opens wallet.)
Susanna: I have three singles and a twenty. Here, take the singles.
Pearl: I want the Super Value meal. Can I have the twenty? I'll bring you change.
Susanna:(although annoyed) Yea, alright.
Rachel and Susanna came to the meeting place, but Pearl wasn't there. They waited for half an hour, but she never showed. Susanna sent Rachel back to tell me, and continued to 'work' that area for the next hour. Pearl disappeared.
That same day some random girl (who happened to be older than me and very attractive -- yes I do like older women) offered me a job at Abercrombie. I was very flattered.
So overall, I like the job. The kids are really cool. Theres A Russian girl. I'm very excited. If I don't get myself fired it will be an...interesting..summer.
