on my way home from work on Friday, I noticed a new establishment - Duck Donuts
it sounded familiar to me ... and after I had already gotten home, I remembered a friend bringing me some when they got back from a trip to the Outer Banks a couple years back ... even day old as they were, they were simply incredible ... so with an actual store now in my area, today I went and got some fresh ones
their formula is simple - a non stop conveyor of fresh cooked basic doughy goodness and then they top them to order for you ... I limited myself to just a half dozen for the weekend ... got a maple glaze with bacon topping, a peanut butter glaze with peanut topping, a lemon glaze, a cinnamon sugar, a regular glazed and a plain ... so of course had the maple bacon one first with some coffee when I got them home ... oh wondrous donut joy
and, just to show me they love me, they offer something on their menu I would generally make on my own - a donut sundae ... your donut with ice cream and toppings of your choice
