So Christmas was pleasant in Dalton. I increased my russian literature collection two-fold, got a copy of "the return" which I've been really wanting to see, aquired some nifty gadgets including a portable hardrive and recieved some cute sweaters. I think the highlight of my christmas was the gift from my uncle, which was completely unexpected, a dairy cow.
Well, I don't actually possess the cow, but my Uncle donated a cow in my name to the heifer project, a really worthwhile non-profit that my sister spent a couple weeks voluteering for in Arkansas. The heifer project (
www.heifer.org ) seeks to reduce poverty through teaching agroecology in less developed places. By providing livestock and proper training the heifer project seeks to reduce global hunger. Through hands on education, the heifer project helps people obtain a sustainable source of food and income through livestock. It was an incredibly meaningful gift.
