Handmaid's Tale love! \:D/

Well, at least you read Wicked. I didn't get past the first page.

I think you'd like Clockwork Orange.

I am not fond of the Neverwhere comic because THE CHARACTERS LOOK WRONG RAAAAAARGH and I don't really like the art. The book is better IMHO :D)

What made you dislike Watchmen? Not trying to start drama, just curious - I can't actually predict your thoughts on it because it's not like the stuff we usually discuss (well, apart from all the death...)

I loved the Handmaid's Tale! Although, I'd end up as an unwoman for sure. D:

There wasn't enough humour in Watchmen to make it worth my while. I love Grimdark, but only if there's enough humour and snark involved. And I couldn't sympathise with any of the characters (with the possible exception of Dan, but he wasn't great either), so by the end it got to the point where I was like 'yeah, I don't care about what happens to any of you anymore'. And it didn't help that everyone seems to rave about it. D:

I often speculate about where I'd end up. I suspect the only firm answer is "nowhere good" :(

I see what you're saying... it's not really snarky at all and if you don't like any of the characters, it would swiftly get very old. And yeah, it sucks when you feel like the only one who doesn't like something.

"Depressing brick" sums up The Stand pretty well! I got through it because I had to (It's on the BBC's Big Read, an oath was sworn to read the lot!) and partly out of a sort of captivated horror. It wasn't the right book to take on a choir holiday when you're feeling a bit home sick and tired ...

I also feel there's a difference between not liking fanfiction and feeling that fanfiction is shitting on her garden and molesting her husband or whatever the hell she said. I have better books to read! (or worse ones but I haven't tried them yet so can't know!)

I really must read Handmaid's Tale. I really, really must. I think I might write a list of the books I should have read by the end of the year and then try and tackle them. That way, I get the fun of crossing them off a list! :)
