Backlog: *builds up again*
Lucy: *is not impressed*
...And there's spoilers, but none for season 4. :D?
Title: Resistance
Characters: Ianto, Owen
Prompt: 149 - Resistance
Summary: In the Year That Never Was, Torchwood become a little bit less secret and a lot more friendly.
Disclaimer: I don't own Doctor Who, neither do I own Torchwood.
In the weeks following their return from the Himalayas, Owen started to bring more people into the Hub.
Ianto had complained, at first, because Torchwood was supposed to be secret, but their medic had given him a glare that clearly meant "if you argue with me on this, you can treat your own damned wounds" (Ianto knew that Owen was bluffing, because despite being an arsehole, he was still a doctor first) and he'd reluctantly agreed.
The Hub eventually became the HQ for the British arm of the resistance movement and their group survived for almost the entire year.
Almost.
Title: Summer Wedding
Characters: Katie, Owen
Prompt: 154 - Marriage
Summary: (AU, spoilers for Fragments) In which Katie Russell finally gets married.
Disclaimer: I do not own Torchwood, Doctor Who, any of the characters involved or...okay, I do own copies of the DVD's now, so I can't say that anymore.
They had their summer wedding.
It wasn't perfect -Owen stumbled over his vows (it was over the 'to honour and obey' part, so she thinks that he may have done it deliberately) and her father never showed up to give her away- but she didn't mind.
After all of the testing, the operation -which had been overseen by a man called Jack Harkness who claimed to be with Torchwood, although she doesn't know what he wanted- and the recovery period afterwards, Katie Russell (wait, it's Katie Harper now, she's going to have to get used to that) finally got married.
Title: The Shower on the Other Side of the Rift
Characters: Ianto, minor Toshiko/Owen
Prompt: 112 - Here We Go Again
Summary: (AU, spoilers for 'Exit Wounds') Sometimes the Rift doesn't just spit out aliens.
Disclaimer: ...No. Don't own it.
Ianto thought that he'd seen everything.
This was about ten seconds before the Rift opened and tossed out two very familiar people, both dripping wet and completely naked.
Toshiko looked absolutely furious.
"Owen, even if I have alien blood all over my outfit, this is the last time I ever let you convince me to take a shower with you in the Hub. Understand?
"Come on, Tosh, it's not like I deliberately set the Rift up to chuck us into another universe just as we were getting out of the shower."
Ianto hadn't realised how much he had missed them.
Title: Trajectory
Characters: Owen
Prompt: 150 - Speeding Bullet
Summary: (AU, spoilers for 'Reset') Just one little thing changes.
Disclaimer: ...No. Don't own it.
All that changes is the trajectory of one speeding bullet.
Three inches to the right and the medic collapses, clutching his shoulder. Screams, another gunshot and now he's just waiting to finish it. He's going to die for his one moment of heroism and he knows it -knows that it's his own damned fault for agreeing to go on a date with another Torchwood member, that they as good as murdered each other the moment they arranged it- but it doesn't happen.
Instead, Jack offers him a hand up -with a gun in his other hand- and Owen keeps breathing.
And as an interlude to the Torchwood-based angst, here's some Ten! :D
Title: Ginger
Characters: Ten
Prompt: 215 - Red/Blue
Summary: He missed them all so much.
Disclaimer: ...No. Don't own it.
The Doctor had wanted to have red hair since before the Time War.
It had started with Turlough -supposedly, around 73% of Trions were red haired, but he doesn't think most of them wore school uniforms and looked at the Time Lord as if they didn't know whether to kiss him or kill him- and then there had been Mel -he's going to blame her hair colour on the carrot juice, he decided after she left- and then eventually Donna.
And he missed all three of them.
He missed them all, every person he had been fortunate enough to meet.
Title: Coping
Characters: Gwen
Prompt: 144 - Blood
Summary: She doesn't know how Suzie managed it.
Disclaimer: ...No. Don't own it.
She doesn't know how Suzie managed to kill so many people.
Maybe it gets easier with time, but the blood and the remorse and the guilt, the horrible feeling that the future is written in stone and that nothing that any of them do will make any difference...
It could just be her. She could just be too sensitive for the job, too concerned with people's feelings to be objective. But that was why Jack had taken her on, because she hadn't been completely desensitised by the everyday life of a Torchwood team member.
Or because he liked Welsh accents.
Title: Unbroken Pattern
Characters: Jack, rest of team
Prompt: 101 - Resolution
Summary: (spoilers for Reset) He tried to promise that it wouldn't happen again, but he couldn't keep it for long.
Disclaimer: ...No. Don't own it.
When Suzie had killed herself, he had promised himself that it wouldn't happen again. That he wouldn't have to watch another member of his team die right in front of him without being able to do anything about it.
By the time Owen died (officially, at least), he had already broken that promise. Even if it never happened, it was still real.
Gwen had died in the original decimation. Owen and Toshiko died after an assassination attempt on the Master went wrong (how were either of them to know that Time Lords could hypnotise people?) and Ianto...
He never knew.
Title: Investigative Honeymoon
Characters: Naomi/Raye (From Death Note)
Prompt: 004 - Crossover/Cross Over
Summary: Raye doesn't understand, but of course, Naomi had always been the smart one.
Disclaimer: ...No. Don't own it.
Raye doesn't understand when Naomi insists that they go to Cardiff for their honeymoon, but how could he? She's the one who's been hunting for Torchwood, the mysterious organisation that even L can't talk about; she's the one spending hours online hunting for a blurry figure in a picture, a single phrase in an article, anything that will tell her that she isn't just on a wild goose chase.
She's even -in case they have some way of making her forget- made notes in a secret code that only she knows, in places where only she would know to look.
Title: Impersonal
Characters: Jack, mentions of Yvonne Hartman
Prompt: 191 - conflict
Summary: The two main branches of Torchwood were not at all friendly. Even before the Cybermen wiped One out.
Disclaimer: ...No. Don't own it.
Unofficially, relations between Torchwood One and Torchwood Three were hostile.
Mostly their aims were at odds (Jack just wanted to find the Doctor, Yvonne wanted to capture him and put him in a cell somewhere) and their recruitment criteria were very different (If they showed initiative, determination and had some qualifications vaguely suited to the job, he'd employ them; while Yvonne...he'd heard horror stories about Torchwood One's recruitment process).
Besides, Yvonne's operation was so...impersonal. Jack's team was small, but it meant that he knew everyone on it (at least, he thought he did) and that he could rely on them.
