sorting out those ghosts of fall, indeed.

i did some retail therapy today and bought some necessary items (a cardigan of some substance and a waterproof outer layer for skiing) and some completely unnecessary items (mostly, an adorable pair of brown heels that i could. not. resist), which i want to wear OMG NOW but cannot since i already have tonight's shoes planned. i'm going bowling in a prom dress (with which brown shoes will not go), which will be awesome.

so i didn't want to post about this until it was already an after-the-fact sort of thing, but i took my russian proficiency test that is required of all MA candidates in my department. it comes in two parts - written, which was last week, and oral, which was yesterday. one must pass the written part to be allowed to proceed to the oral part, so you can safely assume that that happened for me. i passed the oral part yesterday, too, which is a HUGE relief as it means i'll be able to focus my studying purely on the comprehensive literature exam i'll have to take in the spring. it looks like i might be allowed to graduate after all! :)

i went to my high school's ten-year reunion last weekend, which was appropriately hilarious. it was good to make some reconnections, and point and laugh where necessary.

this has been the couple-of-months of trying new things: a few weeks ago i went mountain biking for the first time; monday i'm learning how to rock-climb, and tomorrow i'm going skydiving. no, i can't really believe that last one either, and probably will not until it actually happens. so, if i end up dead, it was nice knowing y'all, even though i'm pretty sure i'll be around to come back and say HOLY CRAP THAT WAS AWESOME.

so... yeah. things are pretty effin' sweet right now. i figure that means something awful is about to happen, but eh, i'm kind of having too good of a month to really care. :) how are *you* doing?
