start of an awesome weekend! (well, mostly...)

Ok, so Friday actually had a particularly shitty start to it.  I woke up, came downstairs, and my dad is asking me for rent money.  Now, I have no problem with paying rent in principal.  My parents are going through some hard times financially so it's totally understandable, but I also had a ton of other bills to pay this check and so I told him it'd have to wait till next check and he flipped the hell out and was threatening to kick me out.  This pisses me off so much for a number of reasons.

I just recently started school and on Monday I need to buy my books if I want any hope of passing my classes.  It's my second attempt and I am bound and determined to be successful, no matter what.  I need an education in order to complete my goals, plus I just feel like I'm going nowhere if I'm not in school.

Also, my parents help my brother out so much and don't even bat an eye! To this day they still pay his cellphone bill, and sometimes even his rent, and they're still paying for the ridiculously high interest rate student loan he got and will be for God only knows how many years to come.  Back when I started at ODU a few years back my dad flipped the fuck out just because I asked him to pay for two of my books.  He bought the books, but also guilt-tripped the shit out of me for like a month and a half.  And that's how my parents react basically anytime I need help from them in these situations.

Now, I should definitely note that my brother is in a shitty spot right now, given his getting hit by a car and having reconstructive-ACL surgery and whatnot.  He's just now really getting back on his feet it seems. But all this has been going on since waaaay before any of that.

It should also be noted that I definitely don't hold these things against my brother.  He can't control the actions of my parents and I don't expect him to refuse whatever help my parents are willing to give him.  I do, however, hold my parents responsible and expect them to at least cut me a little fucking slack here.

Anyways, on to happier topics...Friday night after I got off work (20 minutes late, mind you, because this woman wanted to argue) I joined Mike and Kevin for Brian's birthday party, which was to entail dinner at Red Robin followed by (possibly drunken) bowling at Greenbrier AMF.  Red Robin didn't really happen (for Mike, Kevin, and I at least) because we arrived too late to eat with them.  Then we went to AMF for the bowling.  I rode to AMF with Brian's friend Richard who is a crazy motherfucker.  He drives a pretty sweet older-model (I think?) BMW.  I wanna say it's a 5-series...? It's a hatchback.  It has a pretty awesome stereo system and that dude apparently does some fucking crazy shit on his motorcycle.  He's got a Honda CBR1000 which is pretty sick.  He offered to take me for a ride sometime and hit 150mph before even leaving the interstate onramp.  Sounds like fun but I'm thinking that could end up with me being melted roadcheese so maybe not so much.

We arrived at the bowling alley and they told us the wait was an hour and a half so we decided to just eat bowling alley food and drink and play pool.  Well, Brian and some other people played pool.  I'm horrible at it so I usually refrain to save myself the embarrassment lol.  We eventually waited for over 2 hours before decided it was too late for bowling, and most of Brian's other friends left to go home and so we decided to go back to O and Brian's place to play video games.  First we played Soul Calibur, which I (of course) rocked tons of face in.  XD  Brian kept freaking the hell out whenever I would ring him out which was hilarious.  Then he showed us this game for PS3 (he has SC on PS3 as well) called Valkyria Chronicles which was so awesome! It's like a strategy RPG except when you assign actions to the character, the game goes into a SOCOM-style third-person for moving/first-person for shooting mode.  Also the game was all beautifully cel-shaded, and had an overall steampunk-ish feel to it.  I am a sucker for anything steampunk.  Then we watched him play MGS4 a bit which I had not seen any of yet, that was pretty sick as well.

After leaving Brian's, Mike drove Kevin and I back to Kevin's place (that's where we'd all met, and where my car was) and we sat in Mike's car and had an awesome (and looooonnnggg) conversation about the nature of good and evil and absolute truth and such, along with talking about Mike's band and stuff going on with Kevin at the airsoft field (Ballihack, I think it's called? Not sure of the spelling).  It's been a long time since I did that, and it felt good.

By the time I got home it was almost 4am! Today I'm hanging out with Ben, and tomorrow Mike, Kevin and I are taking a roadtrip to spend the day in DC.  No idea what we're going to do (they dunno either) but I know regardless it will be fun.  Those dudes are like brothers to me and it's been awhile since we could really hang out so this weekend is gonna be really great :D
