Rudolph the Reading Reindeer
Body is simple brown craft paper, the head and tail are painted foamcore. Not too bad for something I threw together in a day or so. There's a 3-tier bookcart under all that (you can probably tell but we needed to be able to use it after this is over, so it had to be easy to remove) and I only wish that I was that young, skinny and cute. ;) XO came up with the name, she's good at that.
Why did I turn a bookcart into a reindeer? For our town's Christmas parade, of course! It's a dinky little parade - basically just around our downtown - but that means it's not going to be a problem for my coworkers to push it through the parade while dressed as elves. Please note that I said my coworkers would be doing that, not me.
See, the parade is the kickoff for our town's annual Christmas street fair, and I will be manning the library's booth for a couple of hours, giving away Geek t-shirts and talking to people about stuff going on at the library. Hopefully, XO has managed to get the library, woman's club and animal rescue groups adjoining spots so that we can watch each others' tables, since XO and I are members of all three groups! I'll be watching the booths (after my shift at the library booth I'll be going to the animal rescue group's booth) for three hours, which is pretty much the whole time the event will be going on, so it'll be a good thing if I can get someone to watch the booth while I get something to eat and maybe even do a little shopping. We've apparently had a good turnout for booths, so hopefully there will actually be something worth buying at them that isn't totally out of my minuscule budget. *neeeeeeeeeeeds xmas gifts for the family* :P
Only problem is the weather - the rain from today will be gone, but the weatherman's saying it'll be in the low 50s / upper 40s during those hours, and that's pretty chilly for this area. I'm thinking of bringing my Official Library System Lap Rug (a gift from Boss a couple Xmases ago) to keep myself warm, and maybe a nice big thermos of something hot. XD
