In case you're wondering, Rufus is the stray kitten from under the bookmobile. He's an orange kitten, about 7-9 weeks old at my best estimate, and he's got a lot of personality. He's going to make somebody a great pet.
I had thought, when I took him in to the vet, that I would be handing him over almost immediately - the vet told me that they had someone interested, someone who'd had an orange cat who'd died a few years ago and who was interested in getting another now. (The vet gave him a clear bill of health, by the way - only thing wrong with him is a case of worms, and I've got medicine to give him for that.)
Unfortunately, the person in question backed out. Apparently they have some stuff going on and they don't want to take on a kitten right now. Oh well. I can keep him a little longer - it's not exactly a distasteful proposition, he's a real sweetie. There's nothing he likes better than a nice cuddle and a bellyrub, and he's very good about not trashing the place (unlike my two dark-furred babies, who are Destructomatic and Sister.) He's good about being left alone too, and he deals pretty well with the bigger kitties when I let them in the guest room (or bring him out) so he gets to interact with other cats. I'm thinking about taking him around town a little for more socialization. I'll be sending pictures of him to the local animal group I'm part of to spread the word about him being available for adoption, and once he's done with his worm meds (if he hasn't been adopted here in town by then) I'll be taking him to the weekly adoption event in Savannah.
