Mom's still on the healthy eating thing - and since she's doing most of the cooking, it's working. "Naughtiest" thing I've had at home since she got here was a 6" hero sandwich with cheese, and even that was on whole wheat roll. She's been making the meals, cleaning dishes & laundry, etc. Pretty much the same things that I was doing when I was living under her roof with no job / only part time.
She's already been recruited by my friend E to join the choir at the Methodist church, which is fine by me - it gives her something to do on the social side of things besides hang out with me. Which don't get me wrong, I don't mind her hanging out with me, I've missed her, but when I was out of work, one of the things that really got to me was the lack of any other social outlet. The choir will give her a chance to make some friends here in Sylvania that aren't my friends first / primarily. If she does wind up coming back from Brazil and moving here instead of back to FL, I don't want her to think she'd be totally isolated. (Mind you, we both agree that if she does move here, she'd need her own house or apartment - but that's a worry for a far future date, I hope.)
Yesterday we went sightseeing. Tybee Island, to be precise. It's a public beach on an island a few miles from Savannah, and it was... just not our cup of tea. It did have some nice old houses and some cute funky ones to look at, but we like long walks on deserted beaches, and if the beach is full in the middle of the day on a Friday, I don't even want to be there for the weekend. Mom climbed up to the top of the lighthouse there - me, I've got a strained muscle in the hip that bugs me when I overuse it, and enough sense not to push it and maybe do myself some real damage. Also part of the reason I haven't been taking morning walks with her.
The other part being, of course, that exercise is NOT the way that I prefer to start off the day. LOL I did go with her once, but I wound up having such a cranky day that I'm not going to repeat. I do admit that I need to get more exercise, though, and having Mom around is definitely making that happen. We go do stuff together like shop or explore or whatever, and that gets me moving and helps alleviate her boredom too.
Lily is showing signs that she'll turn into one of those cats that can actually play fetch - of course, she only seems to do it when I'm in bed, and only when the mood strikes her, but she'll come hopping up on the bed, drop it, and when I throw it off, she'll chase it and bring it back. And bring it back. And bring it back. XD
So far, summer reading is going well. Hopefully it'll just get better.
Okay, time to shut up. Later all!
