I Blame the Internets

So A Very Potter Sequel came out the other day. I've been watching it. It's awoken my inner Harry Potter nerd, who likes to lay dormant for months at a time and then suddenly come exploding out, bursting with fanon and ill-advised fanfiction ideas. I never got into fandom, though, because I read enough Fandom_Wank to know HP fans be crazy, and loud about it. (Oh hai Snapefen and shippers of most stripes!) It's worse, because AVPS features Lupin, who I've loved since forever (although in this incarnation he's kind of a foul-mouthed bad influence, which makes me laugh).

Does anyone on my Flist like Harry Potter also? (Here I answer myself, "Lol no, Elly, or else maybe some of them might READ your weirdo Dylan-inspired fanfic. Or at least they probably don't ship as crackily as you do, you nutcase.") I'd say reasonably sane fans should start a comm in which we are cool and reasonably sane together, but I know better than that. This is Harry Potter; everything turns to the crazy side after a while.

BUT because I'm in this semi-nostalgic geek mood, enjoy some of my wacky headcanon.

-Unlike 2/3 of the internet, I never bought Sirius and Remus as lovers, really. They seemed more to me like they had an epic and tragic bromance than anything. Of course, at the time, "bromance" was not a word, so they were fairly often Mistaken For Gay, but really they were just close enough to not really have silly things like personal boundaries anymore. I DO believe that they had at least one awkward hookup, though. I haven't decided whether or not booze was involved.
-Remus and Tonks were both bisexual. There was an awkward moment in the early stages of their relationship where they "came out" to each other and were both subsequently baffled in a sort of, "Wait, you too?" way. (There was a similar moment later on when it turned out their respective collections of vintage vinyl overlapped greatly. Tonks' surprise that Remus had music that came out when he was a teenager made him feel very old, not least of all because she referred to it as "classic.")
-Sirius Black, by and large, did not "get" Muggle music. The major exception to this rule was Queen, which he adored. Occasionally if no one was around, he might break into an embarrassingly loud rendition of "We Are the Champions."
-For every time in Lily Evans' life, there was a David Bowie song. She believed this even more than I do. She also wore more glitter eyeshadow in the seventies than was really advisable, but she worked it so well that nobody seemed to notice, even in that "Ten Years Later Looking At Old Photos And Marveling Over How Hideous Fashion Was" period.
-Severus Snape and Lily had a "practice kissing" session when they were fairly young. Lily had declared from the start that it was just practice and so would not count as either of their first kiss. Lily stayed true to her word, and counted her first kiss as being with her first boyfriend. Snape, on the other hand, secretly and desperately clung to the thought that his first kiss was with Lily.
-Teddy Lupin, as he got older, became a fierce advocate for werewolf rights. He'd never admit it, but one of his primary motivations was the desire to feel like his father would be proud of him.
-Remus and Lily dated for a short time when they were in school, but it was kind of awkward and so they broke it off, deciding they would be better as friends. (Remus actually really regretted this, but was too...well, Remus-y to say anything to her about it at the time. He did eventually get over it, but he never stopped finding her beautiful.)

I don't have any for the main characters because I find the secondary characters way more interesting. Durrrr. XD

actual entries, hp dorkiness, lolwat
