. . .
I wish I could say that it's going REALLY good, but its not. =( I'm only at a measly 9,000 words and chapter 1 still isn't finished. I love my story and my characters but I'm having trouble finding my character's voices, if you know what I mean. I'm also having trouble falling into my own sturdy, consistent writing style. It seems like my writing style fluctuates with each book I read.
I wish I could grasp the whole "write without looking back" concept, but I have this obsessive-compulsive editing syndrome. I like to go back and edit things way too much for my own good. Is this perhaps what all new-born writers go through? This is really only my second stab at writing my own novel so I guess I just need to get a grip.
Anyhow, I am having loads of fun. I just need to grasp the fact that everything isn't going to be perfect right off the bat. It's insane how much more I've come to admire authors since I started NaNoWriMo. I mean, I've ALWAYS admired them, but even more so now that I understand what its like to create an entire world of fantasy from scratch. It takes lot's of thinking/planning/research!
And one last writing question, is it better to keep the description of your characters/creatures to a minimum so that readers may form their own images in there head, or is being descriptive as possible more preferred?
Thanks! And good luck to everyone writing out there!
