wedding bells and pirate ships.

What was the last wedding you went to? Were you in the wedding?

...

Haha. I login to LJ after weeks, and the "Writer's Block" question is exactly what I need to write about... (By the way, when did LJ start this "writer's block" thing?)

So! I'm married! I am officially Suzanna Schactler, or Mrs. Eric Schactler when I'm feeling old fashioned. Being a newlywed is fantastic, and Eric is fantastic, and even though my mother and I nearly killed each other before the wedding, life is just so... fantastic. Sarah (my SISTER!) helped me plant a garden, and even though we have a mole who keeps uprooting my strawberries, I'm hoping soon I'll have some fruit and veggies and pretty flowers! Also, I officially love peonies. They're just such great big beautiful flowers that I don't even care that they're almost always covered with ants. Eric's been working really hard on the house everyday, and soon we should have a place for people to stay over when they come and visit (um, but it's small so you may have to kip on the couch). I already told Shelly which room will be hers when she comes back from Japan if her parents have moved to Texas (its currently being made into Eric's LAN party room, right next to my sewing room). Eric's going to be so sad when we have babies and he loses his gaming cave.

I'm married! Life is AMAZING. Sarah is getting married in December, and I'll be making a website for her sometime in the sort-of near future. Should be fun! I've been having so much fun giggling with her as we garden and clean the house. She had Josh's family over yesterday evening, and we had a barbeque outside, yummy home-made strawberry angelfood cake inside, and then a bonfire out on the property. It was lovely, and he has a great family. Yay for Sarah! We sure know how to pick 'em! =) Anyway, I'm excited for her wedding. It's so far away and neither of us have a million things going on anymore, and so it should be relatively stress-free, and definitely beautiful.

The flowers at our wedding were amazing. Mom (by the way, Mom = mother in law, Mama = birth mother) and Sarah did a lovely job. My bouquet was a monster, muah haha (pictures to come). Poor Shelly had to hold it the entire time, her arm must have gotten so tired! She was my go-to girl for the day, just about the most helpful person ever (it helps that she knew a lot of people and fits into tight spaces). Georgia was adorable as she recited the scripture (she messed up and kind of squeaked out, "Oh, sorry!" and I got the giggles). She was amazing, the best Maid of Honour, ever. So nervous about the scripture, but for no reason! It was totally a laid-back event (the pastor even joked about video games, which made Eric turn BRIGHT RED). I loved getting to see everybody again, even though it was frustrating that I wasn't able to spend time actually talking with people I haven't seen in ages. Melissa sang beautifully, and arrived about five minutes before I walked down the aisle, which was about ten minutes late. Ha, apparently she (and quite a few other people) got lost... Oops. That's what I get for having my wedding in a tiny (but beautiful) town! My Mama was ready to sing in case she didn't get there, and practiced beforehand. Pastor Dan and everybody else kept saying that they wanted my Mama to sing, especially since she was all decked out in her Korean dress and, well, she does have an amazing voice (someday she'll make a CD, I'm sure). I'll upload the video of her practicing after I get it off my Daddy's PC (by the way, Daddy = birth daddy, Dad = father in law). My Daddy almost cried so many times, and he was so cute walking me down the aisle (more nervous than I was!). When we were dancing, he didn't know how to waltz, so we just swayed like at a middle school dance, but I told him not to be nervous, so we just started playing around. I led myself into some turns (heh), and by the end we were swaying our butts all over the place. He dipped me, too, and my tiara almost came off, and I squeaked really loudly - it was a great ending. I'll upload that video when I get the chance, as well. =)

I was totally mellow my entire wedding day. If/when any of you get married, don't stress! It's really not worth it. I can honestly say that it was one of the happiest days of my life, and I'm so proud that I didn't ruin it by stressing or freaking out about anything. It was just fun and I lovely, the way a wedding should be.

We get our wedding photos from our photographers soon! I'm so excited. If you're ever in need of professional photographers, I HIGHLY recommend Bob and Priscilla Rathbone of Rathbone Images. This married couple is down to earth, sweet, fun, natural, and TALENTED. Priscilla was SO helpful on the wedding day, and they're sneaky like ninjas when it comes to taking photos. People kept forgetting they were there, and then suddenly they'd realize they were being photographed (I can't wait to see your champagne stealing shots, Scott). They were non-intrusive during the ceremony, and they're so laid back, professional, and just... nice. They're good people. They have a dog and two cats and adorable kids. Their house is beautiful. They're beautiful, and I'm so excited to see our photos! It's pricey, but honestly I think it was completely worth it because they're so wonderful. Besides, we cut costs in every other department (home-made dress, cake from Albertson's, champagne was the only alcohol, flowers were whatever was in season, etc.). So the wedding totals came out to less than $5000, and more than half of that were the photos (which included an engagement session, proofs of EVERYTHING, albums, DVD slideshows, etc.).

Right now we're house-sitting for some family friends, watching the puppies and making sure nobody steals anything (like the Camaro or Firebirds parked in the garage). It's a beautiful home, and since everyday life feels like a vacation, this is like a vacation from our vacation. Plus, there's a puppy, and an old sweet dog about the size of a horse. Who chews rocks. His name is Rowdy, and he's one of the most entertaining dogs, ever. Since he's so huge, when he wanted to play fetch while we were walking him, he grabbed huge tree branches. Literally, he grabbed sticks that were at least six feet long, running back to us with tree just sticking out for three or four feet on either side of him. Hilarious. And the puppy is a lab/German shepherd mix, so he's pretty much Shelly's dream dog.

San Diego was amazing. I LOVED the zoo and wild animal park, and I got to pet and feed dolphins at Sea World! I can't wait to bring my kids there... You know, after I pop some out. =) But that shouldn't be for a few years, hopefully. Anyway. I saw a gazillion animals (photos coming later, when I have a guaranteed internet connection), and I totally want about half of them, so Eric needs to become a zillionaire so I can have my own zoo. We also went to the Gaslamp District (downtown) and Little Italy, and went on the old maritime museums. It was fun exploring the ships, we went on an old Russian submarine, and a steamship, and the HMS Surprise from the movie Master and Commander (a replica of a British something-or-other, a frigate maybe?), and we got pirate paraphernalia (I'm too lazy to look up the spelling of that word, I'll edit this later if it's wrong). I got a shirt that says, "The nagging will continue until morale improves" with a pirate emblem. Eric got one that mentions beatings, and some grog cups. Yeah, we're cool.

Yeah, life is amazing. Pretty much the only downside is that even though it's summer and most of my dearest friends are all on this side of the state, I haven't seen any of them but Shelly since the wedding! Totally not fair, and I demand quality time, and soon. Georgia's new boyfriend lives not far from Eatonville, though, so we're going to meet up soon and spend some time together, maybe go on a double date. =) And I'll be seeing Aly on Sunday when we go to a Randy Travis concert (her mom got free tickets!). Oh, life is grand! Eric and I may be going to Forks for the weekend before the 4th of July, but I'm not sure yet. As for the rest of you, though, call me! Let's make plans!

I should be visiting Pullman sometime in August/September, and possibly again afterward. I will be sure to let everybody know, so we can go to Rico's or dancing, mkay? =)

Love you all, and I hope to update more frequently soon! With pictures and videos! Aww, the puppy's whining because he's outside all alone and wants some love. I'd better go, ta!

wedding, life
