Boys and girls of every age, wouldn't you like to see something strange?

Hallo and welcome one and all! I was inspired to create this community as a goth who has been in and out of various city-specific scenes for the past 14 years, yet is currently living on a southern farm far away from anything resembling a goth club. Though I've very much enjoyed my time as a Boston netgoth and as an active member of the UK goth scene, I also greatly enjoy the beauty and solitude of living in a rural setting and the creativity that comes with that. Sometimes I find it difficult to reconcile these two sides of myself. One one hand I love having the space and time to indulge in my creative pursuits (writing, music, photography, and short film, to name a few) but on the other I miss having weekly or even monthly events where I can show off the Victorian hats that I made or get to dance to loud goth music outside of my living room. While yearly festivals such as Convergence and Whitby are wonderful, I figured that I can't be the only weirdo living in a rural place who misses more frequent opportunities to goth up and really revel in the "night life."

And so I bring you rural goth, for those subcultural deviants without a scene. This is a place to discuss your love or hate of the lack of fellow freaks to dance with, the spooky things you love to do all by your onesie, the resources available to those of us who don't live in big cities, and most anything else that your dark little heart desires. I conceived of this community to be sort of like craftygoths but with more sociology, media, and personal stories involved. However, if it's respectful (internet posting is no excuse for a lack of manners) and at all related to being a freak without a freak kingdom, go for it. As your devoted community creator and moderator I will be slowly but surely collecting links of interest as well as posting weekly polls in order to get things moving.

So once again, welcome, and I look forward to seeking out a new scene without a scene.

welcome, introduction, purpose, moderator
