as for age and assimilation...
it just seems like there's a time in life when we find we don't 'need' to show off to others for our own internal true colors to be recognized, and that it only matters to ourselves.
i know some folks 'in the scene' that pretty much have made themselves incapable of having an *ahem* 'real job' either in the near or distant future due to permanent body modifications...i.e. facial piercings/tattoos/branding/scarification/pearling, or over-the-top hair (huge dreads, or shaved/dyed/mohawked/etc)...it seems some people use that as a 'badge' to show how 'serious' or 'goth as fuck/g.a.f.' they are to be 'not normal', and some will judge those others who call themselves 'goth' but haven't done anything more extreme than dress up to go to a club and the rest of the time they look 'normal'. bleah. so much drama and effort wasted on such minutiae. who...really...cares?
just one more reason i'm glad not to be a part of that anymore. i guess in my case, it's a matter of maturing in certain ways, and realizing what's really important in life.
i'm still a night owl, but i always have been. the only time you'll catch me up at 6am is if i haven't gone to bed yet! :-D
