The Ranks of the Employed

I sit here this evening with new job jitters. That's right, I have defeated frenchie Quebec in the war to get a job! Humpty Dumpty Chip Factory, a place I applied at 3 months ago, finally called me back last Thursday. On Friday morning I went for an uninterview, meaning I already had the job and it was all just formalities, and discovered I would work second shift, 3pm-11:30pm, from Monday-Friday, and make $13.71 doing so.

Yay for me!! The only downside to this is that it takes about 90 minutes to get there, and 90 minutes to get back. >_< It is worth it though for the good money. I was told however that someone working the same shift as me also lives in my area of the city, so maybe I'll be able to get a lift with him. Here's to hoping.

I'll be doing pretty menial things for such a large chunk of change. I'll be, including but not limited to, packing chip bags into boxes, standing beside the chip conveyor belt and removing the over/undercooked chips, bundling the boxes to be recycled, taping boxes, and sweeping the floor. Unfortunately though I have to wear steel toe boots, and the factory is always about 10 C hotter than outside. We do get frequent breaks because of it though.

So in the end I am pretty excited to feel useful and productive again. I'm looking forward to spending time outside the house, and earning cash to buy stuff and actually be able to afford to go out with my friends. In the end of course I am more looking forward to leaving for Tennessee than anything, but this is a nice turn of events.
