See? You're all going to be sorry I decided to get back into this.
Anyway, remember that movie "300"? You know, big sweaty muscly men shouting "THIS IS SPARTA!", and kicking people into huge wells, a possible commentary on the affairs of America vs. Iran. I have to say, no offense to the brainy bigwigs out there and social commentators, but I'm fairly certain that most of the people who saw "300" did not realize that Iran used to be part of Persia. Though if the President of Iran looked like Xerxes...well...I really don't know what life would be like. Really weird, probably.
I admit it's not a great movie, epic yes, lots of blood spillage and intense fight sequences, but it is rather ridiculous. Not the least because all Spartans are apparently amazingly cut guys who are wearing practically nothing and have British and Irish and Scottish accents. Sure, why not? Actually, that's the real reason I watch that movie, so I can sit there and drool over Tom Wisdom and Gerard Butler and Michael "His Abs Make Me Excited" Fassbender. Wow, Michael Fassbender. Is it warm in here? I need to lie down a moment...
Was I making a point? Oh, yeah, right. *ahem* My point of all this was that when the movie trailer came out, I adored the music for it. I thought it was vibrant and majestic, the stuff I love about movie soundtracks. I'm a total nerd for them. I in fact will watch movie credits just to listen to the soundtrack again, without being disturbed by useless character dialogue. However, with "300" when the actual film came out, and I thought about buying the soundtrack, I listened to the usual iTunes bits and thought it was really kind of lame. So I never bought. Five years later, I'm bored at work today and looking up trivia about the movie online, and discover that the trailer did not use music from the original score, but uses a Nine Inch Nails song instead.
No wonder I liked it. And about twenty minutes ago, I downloaded it, and feel rather pleased with myself. Except for the weird piano bit in the middle which always makes me think my phone is ringing, I love it. Thank you Trent Reznor.
I was going to talk about the week in review, but frankly very little happened to me this week, other than an awful attack of ninja cramps yesterday morning, which caused me some serious pain, I nearly passed out several times, and did throw up. *sigh* Not a good day. But hey, I got awesome new music, and a bunch of burly Spartans to salivate over. Rowr.
Oh, and I dreamt that Sherlock from the new BBC series made out with me last night. Score! Dream kisses feel surprisingly real...
