So I was about to leave work this afternoon when a company email flew into my inbox, basically outlining the dos and don'ts of company policy, once again reviewing the dress code which says CAPRI PANTS (and anything resembling them) ARE FORBIDDEN.
Cut to me, with my ankles and calves exposed. CRAP!
The thing is, this whole shpants thing has been back and forth all summer, and making me really quite nervous because someone got sent home to change for wearing such things, and I didn't want to be that person, obsessive rule follower that I am. However, I've been wearing them all summer and no one's ever said anything to me, so I decided I would just ask. So I went over to my boss's office and asked if my Audrey Hepburn shpants were appropriate and she very kindly said sorry, but no. The Department has spoken.
Damn. I really like my shpants. They're cooler than pants (temp wise) and they have pockets, and well, they're like pants but short!
Luckily, though, it's starting to cool off. Right now. It was 90 yesterday and today it's 62. What? Anyway, so regular pants will probably be fine for the rest of the week. And I got to say hi to my boss, who really is nice and not scary at all, I'm just afraid of her because she's the boss and I'm an underling. She did tell me that there would be positions opening soon, so I can change to the job I'm already doing, but a different company signs my checks. Whatever. I don't know if I want it yet or not. More money is always good.
I just have to be working somewhere else by June so I can have my shpants back.
And my best friend just gave me Stephen Fry on facebook. I love the internet.
