Okay, I managed to go probably about 60 hours without having a moment of painful awkwardness until last night's swing dancing. This time it was so-worried-about-saying-something-wrong-that-I-can't-speak awkward. Ugh, I swear, I'm going to choke on my own awkward neuroses one of these days. Can you do that? Death by self-inflicted awkwardness?
Oh, well, I at least made it out to Julie's bday and got to see my book club girls, the best adults I know. :D Jill and I need to get together and go to Goodnights and finally have that birthday shot we've been talking about. And I can't wait for her and Shannon and Carroll to get a load of swing dancing. My stories may have been too legendary. They'll probably come on a night where none of the regulars show up, and there are no good adventures to be had.
Speaking of adventures, it has been a dangerous week at work. Between Barb's window shattering, other Jill getting into a collision, and the various and sundry health issues, we're beginning to worry if there's a curse. I don't recall the eighth floor being built on an Indian burial ground, but you never know. My poor coworker Kim went to get her coffee, came back looking as pale as death because she was passing a six millimeter kidney stone. I've never passed a kidney stone, but from the expression on her face, a six millimeter stone passing through a human kidney must be like passing the Witchking's flail or Sauron's mace. Pointy and painful. But they got her to the emergency room, and I've heard she's doing a little better. Eek.
And Sheri my business mentor told me that bad things happen in threes, so hopefully we've made our quota and things can go back to normal now.
And I survived leading Sherlock Holmes without too much issue, now on to Jane. At least Cecily is coming, she's pretty awesome. She has a very gentle snark about her, which I adore in people. And hey, saw a Lotus while I was driving in this morning. I wonder if a supercar sighting is like seeing a shooting star. Perhaps it will bring me a little luck.
