Good evening, people, how's it going?  I have to say, the last five days have been quite interesting and often action-packed.  Friday was the usual swing dancing joy, followed by a pleasant and unexpected visit that kept me up until four a.m., when I had fully planned to be in bed before one.  Yet, despite all the expelled energy of Friday, I managed to get up at 8:30 on Saturday morning, shower, and still be early to my Sherlock Holmes bookclub, and not tired at all.  Wacky.  Carl, our Sherlock expert (I don't think there's a fact this guy has missed about Holmes), gave me a neat looking book which reexamines the case of the Hound of the Baskervilles operating on the theory that Holmes got it wrong.  Carl wants me to read it for May and see what I think.  I of course shall oblige him, because I like Carl.  He gives me books, how can I say no?!  He is my Holmes mentor.  I also have to be somewhat on my game next month because I'm in charge of discussion, eek.

On to Jane Austen where Mary Beth the awesome tea lady gave us a rundown on tea ceremonies and mixing teas.  I now have a huge bag of Yorkshire Harrogate and some freeze-dried rose petals and lemon balm for extra flavor and scent, yay.  She even remembered me from visiting her shop!  Considering I've only been three times, and the last time was somewhere around last summer (and I honestly think I've met her exactly once), I have to say either she has an incredible memory, or I make a serious impression on people.  Probably the former.  She was awesome, and I can't wait for her to reopen her tea shop...cucumber dip, people,  AWESOME CUCUMBER DIP!!!  tumbling0after has twice traveled across the state line to eat it.  I love Mary Beth and her bread pudding.

My only concern with Jane is that we're starting to get a little overbooked with activities.  I'm all for doing stuff related to Jane, but I really do like having book discussion, and waiting two months between discussions makes it a little hard to remember what happened in the mean time.  You basically just reread all the time.

Anyway...

Last night was my other book club that usually has no actual theme except the one we decide on, which last night was adventure.  In other words, we went and ate at the Harrah's Casino buffet across town.  Oh, my dear deities, what a gathering of people.  The evening wound up being really hilarious.  We were all excited to know that our friend Susie was getting ready to have her baby last night, still waiting on news, but perhaps it took all night and they're all sleeping it off.  I would not blame them.  Then it became an evening of giggling over the book, eating a lot of unhealthy food, chatting with Norma our waitress, and watching the prostitute and her client across the room.  As Shannon said about the guy and his appeal, "I would have to be so drunk, and so high, and so dead for that to happen."

She wins.

The buffet wasn't all that fantastic, mainly because I could've been eating my mother's homemade boeuf bourgignon which is amazing.  However, the buffet did have great desserts, and I could put sprinkles and raspberry sauce on my chocolate pie and eat the giant truffle egg anyway I wanted.  Bam.

It's supposed to be springlike the next two days and then snow the night of the toga party.  Who can I yell at for this?

food, jane, chocolate, sherlock holmes, swing dancing, dessert, silliness, excitement, book club
