Friday...woohoo!

Yay!  It's the weekend!  In about ten minutes I'm going to go drop into my comfy bed and sleep like there's no work on Monday.  I have no social sensibility.  Fridays for me are about watching tv, doing laundry, and going to bed as soon as possible.  Ah, the dating future is as bright as the innards of a black hole.

Anyway, it's still Friday and something cool did happen today.  I've been keen to read Watchmen for a long time since my brother told me about it, and I took a class in graphic novels where our professor told us cool stuff, and now the movie's coming out, and when I saw The Dark Knight last weekend, I saw the preview.  It looked really neat, but I think it would've made more sense if I'd actually read the comic book.  That and
tumbling0after told me to read it because it is awesome.  So, since I'm trying to conserve a bit of my capital, I thought I'd get it from the library, if they had a copy.  It's popular, there was a chance.

Cut to this afternoon when I got home and went up to my room to change and found a copy of Watchmen on my bed looking very shiny and unread.  I asked my mom about it, since she was going to the library today and said she'd look for it.  Turns out the Omaha Public Library has SEVEN copies of Watchmen, all of which are currently checked out, and there are 32 people on a waiting list for it.  So where did my copy come from?!  Apparently my little brother was feeling quite generous and was already buying himself a few things at the book store, so he grabbed me a copy of Watchmen which he intends to borrow, but for all other purposes, is mine.

How cool is that?!?!?!  I am delighted.

Also, watched the Doctor Who finale.  All I can say is Thank you, Russell, you can go now.  Take your scripts with you.  For further details and opinions, you can check it out as I attempt to put all of that under the cut.  Here goes.
So first of all the Scifi channel ran the finale at 7:30 instead of the usual 8, so I missed the first half hour and was totally confused for a while, though it didn't really matter.  The show seemed very much a hastily cobbled together pile of crap that was minorly cool.  I'm all for reunions and stuff, but there were just too many details, and too many people in it.  Everyone has bit parts instead of actual roles.  It was like an episode base on one-liners.  And lots of random plans to stop the Daleks which did absolutely nothing.  Russell, wtf?

AND they got RID of DONNA!  I LIKED DONNA!  I WANT her BACK!  Argh.  What the crap.

On the upshot, I did like human-timelord Donna.  And the German Daleks at the beginning (which I caught later) were so much more terrifying than English speaking Daleks.  If they had been Nazis, I would've crawled under my bed and hid for days.  So creepy.

Rather unimpressive, that season finale.  Not very clever.  Just a lot of extreme luck and coincidence and stuff that the Doctor knew but neglected to inform us of.  Whatever.  BRING BACK DONNA NOBLE!!!!

And with that, I think I'll go to bed.  I am very sleepy.

little brothers, tired, doctor who, libraries, sleep, laundry, heroes, batman, watchmen, books
