Okay, I'm back, and at home so I don't have to fear the UP internet Nazis.
Hurray for Friday. I had free lunch today with my contracting company and my fellow contractors, which was nice until it dissolved into a discussion of how much things suck at our company if you're a contractor. Newsflash from my coworkers: Work sucks. Dress code crap, time card crap, scheduling crap, user id crap. My favorite was the comment on how nobody cares about us and looks at us as expendable. I wanted to say, "That's because we are, genius!" We really are, but if you stick to it, you can make it all right, but I don't think anyone there is thinking about staying permanently. Not me, certainly. Of course, I'm annoyed with everyone else's complaints because nothing bad has happened to me yet. Cue disaster at work.
Also, moron coworker of my waking nightmares (the one in the next cube) made a point on how she wouldn't know about the whole you can't register overtime if you take a holiday bit, because as she said of the week where several of us HAD to stay late in order to clean up everything that wasn't getting done, she wouldn't know because she didn't take overtime that week. I had to consciously bite back the, "No shit! Really?!"
I loathe her with searing Severus Snape hatred sometimes.
In other thrilling news,
weaselwoman13 and I have made contact. She's awesome, the source of many delightful and intelligent pursuits and interests in my life. I owe my Monty Python computer sound effects to her, and that means a lot.
Still time before Doctor to go do some writing on other stroy. We'll just see.
