360-ification

The funny thing about this holiday - everyone seems to be getting 360s!  That excites me, as I'm glad to see friends getting them online and at least opening up the possibility that we can play games together.  A number of my coworkers have gotten them too.  They keep coming to me for advice on them, and for some reason, I still think "why me?" then I remember "Oh yeah".

What's even funnier for me is hearing about people getting a Wii - one coworker's grandparents got one, and it was the runaway hit of the family (though Viva Pinata helped on the 360).

I also broke down and got two pieces of personal electronics I've wanted for a while - well, the first was a present from my brother...

My brother got me a Nintendo DS Lite.  He'd put off getting one before Christmas, meaning he found they were sold out everywhere.  They were sold out of white and onyx ones on Amazon.com, but had pink ones.  Fortunately, I found that the Best Buy near my office (up by Dulles Town Center) had two white ones and an onyx one, so now I have a black DS Lite.  I also went ahead and picked up one game for it so far - the New Super Mario Bros. - as it was the only game they had that I was interested in.

When I got the game I went ahead and picked up an iPod shuffle.  I'd joked before that I wouldn't get an iPod until they were small enough to swallow (not really like in Sluggy Freelance), and this one - well, 1 GB for $80 wasn't bad.  I synced it up yesterday and put some MP3s I already had on my old machine on there for use while working out.  I think my playlist needs some tweaking still, though - too many of the songs are just too slow, or have too long/slow/quiet of an opening to be good for working out.

Anyways, I need to get back to beating Call of Duty 3.  After all, I want to buy more 360 games, and won't do it until after then (and after my brother beats Gears of War - he's on General RAAM now).  And I still need to figure out New Year's Eve...
