Back from E3.

The throat didn't get better the next morning -- so I said fuckit, went out and had some drinks that night (avoiding overly carbonated beverages, since those seemed to really hurt it) and the next day it was almost gone!

It's pretty much gone now, and I'm fairly certain it was strep.  D'oh.  At least, from what I've read - I didn't catch it in time to get on antibiotics that might've helped it.  Hopefully I didn't contagion anyone.

LAX was the usual nightmare.  I almost missed my flight thanks to the inane system of checking bags.  I know, I know, you shouldn't check bags in this day and age but I do, okay?  And I needed to this time.  I had a lot of shit.

No good swag at E3.  I got...uh...a 500 MB thumb drive.  I was supposed to get a water bottle from Codemasters but forgot it.  Snagged a tin of mints from SOE.  I was hoping for one of the World in Conflict skateboards, though I don't skateboard and was a little iffy on how I'd get it home.  Microsoft gave us the paperback prequel to Mass Effect.

Finally figured out the mysterious 866 number that kept calling me (at times at 5:30 in the morning while in Cali).  It's Capital One, who has screwed up my paperwork on my eyeball loan.  No biggie, but I don't have any checks at work so that I could pay the bill here...grrr.

I've actually got a Runo Knows to do on that Mass Effect novel, though I think I insulted the book to the author while drinking in the "At The Waterfront Cafe" during the Gamecock party.

Speaking of Gamecock...geez.  Try a bit harder to be "cool" guys.  The games pretty much were good, and the devs friendly and fun to hang out with - but the general attitude that they had going was a bit annoying.  It's like they really really wanted everyone to believe that they were the huge party guys.  You don't need to flaunt it.  Just do it.  And lose the stupid ass rooster costumes, you were really pissing off the staff at the cafe.

(And also due to the fact that people outside, where they got free drinks thanks to silver bracelets, had no idea that you had to pay if you went inside.  Of course, for a 17 ounce Erdinger hefeweissen it was only $3...)

Keep an eye out if you read USA Today.  I should be mentioned in their E3 coverage.  Sat next to one of their reporters thanks to the fact that a little chubby Asian girl asked to switch seats with me.

But surprisingly enough, American Airlines was about 20 times better than United's flight to LAX last year.  On the way back I was on a 767, the first time for me - I wished I'd gone business or first class (but who doesn't?) but was still comfortable enough that I never got around to watching more episodes of The Wire.

And the food, while a bit expensive ($5 for a turkey muenster bagel sandwich, $3 for a big stack of Lays potato chips (like a Pringles can), $2 for a bottle of water) wasn't that bad.

Back to beer...got the Saranac 12 pack of summer beers.  The Pomegranite (however the heck you spell that) wheat was interesting.  Not a very strong fruit flavor.

But, in a way, I'm glad to be back at work.  I've still got a number of companies to write up for E3 (Gamecock, Akella, EA pt. 2, Indie Games, Microsoft, Midway, 1C, and World in Conflict).  I need to hit the gym and hard tonight, and figure out what I'm having for lunch since I'm officially back on the diet again.  I'm starving though!  So hungry...
