Caught just a second of a news story about a wayward hooded seal found in someone's backyard in Maryland. Fortunately the seal was sent back home to the Arctic, perhaps much mystified by his/her visit to Maryland. . .

ROYAL OAK, Md. - A 50-pound hooded seal discovered in a Talbot County backyard has been returned to the ocean.
Liz Fischer of Royal Oak noticed the seal in her backyard Thursday morning when she forgot something and ran home to pick it up.
"It looked tired," Fischer told The (Easton) Star Democrat. "It just seemed to enjoy lounging. It really did. It was very content where it was. It was a beautiful, beautiful animal."
Fischer called the state Department of Natural Resources, which asked workers from the National Aquarium to take the animal. Aquarium workers hosed down the seal, put it into a dog carrier and drove it to Assateague State Park, where it was released.
It was the third hooded seal found in Maryland in the last decade, according to Connie Barclay, with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Fisheries Program. It was the first hooded seal to be discovered in Talbot County. The seals usually live in the Arctic, but scientists noticed some swimming south in the 1990s.
telchar took me to see Branford Marsalis and his band perform at Ram's Head Tavern last night. The new pieces from
the Bragtown album released on Tuesday were very energetic and classy. I love hearing live jazz, especially of this stellar quality. We had dinner at the tavern afterward and both were tired. Somehow we've become old folks who get up before dawn and start falling asleep by 9:30 p.m. Could it be we've actually reached middle-age? *gasp* Nah, couldn't be.
Meanwhile, I've had an extremely busy work week. Productive, but broken up by many public tours of the House. Well, at least we're having some off-season visitors.
I need to make time tonight to go over my Gàidhlig exercizes tonight. My motivation is inspired by the warmth and friendliness of
gaidhlig members, who I'd love to be able understand what it is they're saying to me when not typing in English. All in good time, I suppose.
