This break in focusing (or lack thereof?) is brought to you by this lj entry.

I'm sad to report that I've mostly been studying and reading and doing problems these last few days.  Our first exam is Thursday, so I'm attempting to prepare myself before these next few crazy days.  However, I did manage to watch a few movies this weekend to unwind in the evenings.  Candyman was ok, it was about this urban legend about a slave who was killed for his actions by bees and replacing a hand with a hook, and had a 'summoning ritual' almost exactly like 'Bloody Mary'.  Highlights include the perfect creepy background music (you go Philip Glass), a great acting job by the Candyman (creeptastic voice, holy crap!), and the vengeful ending. Other than that... eh.  I watched Prime as recommended to me by Stephanie, a more 'realistic' chick flick if you will, it wasn't all that bad but I hate real life endings! Haha.  Finally, I watched 'The Host' that I tracked down from the library.  Sadly, I found it horribly disappointing as the best part was the clip my cousin had shown me earlier this summer.  The middle got confusing, I didn't know what was going on, and the whereabouts of some people were lacking at the end.  Plus my TV is dark and the movie was dark... so resolution sucked.  But that's my fault.

I've managed to register myself for a big Pittsburgh 5k at the end of this month, and I'm excited for it!  I haven't raced a 5k since outdoor season, and I'm curious to see how I perform 1) on the roads and 2) on the hills.  It's really kept me going with my training and helps kick me outside when I don't want to move at all.

Today I called the landlord's office and the son came down to check out my broken appliances.  He showed me how to light the pilot light (now I need some matches) and I discovered how g-ross the surface under the stovetop is.  I really want to clean it now, but now quite sure how to go about doing it.  He also checked out my toilet chain that I rigged with a paperclip and decided I needed a new one (thank goodness) so that will be coming soon.

My mom asked me if I was studying anything fun, to which I replied "I've been studying for 16 years now, how is there anything fun left?"  Haha, hopefully I'll find that something fun.  I suppose this is interesting enough and all, but it's just getting old, you know? At least there's only like 2 years max of classes left, woot.
