A Memory of the Past
I remember thirty years ago,
when our lives were still so simple.
When candy bars were just a nickel,
soda pops a dime.
When baseball and hockey were
the only things on our minds.
We were childhood friends, sworn
blood-brothers 'til the end of time.
We'd made our plans to become
the heroes of tomorrow.
Little did we know then, our lives
would be filled with sorrow.
Your mom and dad, and sister too,
all died three years later.
Soon afterwards, you left our town,
and said fairwell to me.
And we've not seen each other since,
except in memory.
