We had a very unorganized exit out of the house on our way to the concert. We hit the ATM for some cash for food and merchandise at he concert. Two miles away and the Smooch realized we forgot the tickets. So we head back only to end up scouring for them after finding the ticket envelope was empty. Turns out they just fell on the floor. We got to Celebrity Theater very early. No crowd at all. As we walked the parking lot we spotted a few people, 3 women and 1 dude, surrounded around a shade screen/tent. Out of interest we went over to see what the commotion was and it was Chris Isaak himself! One of his drummers was also there. We did not bring our camera since they are not allowed and they do check for them. However, one of the girls had a camera cellphone. The dude got his pic first with Isaak who so kindly indulged us. Then the Smooch took pics of the girls with Chris. In exchange they took our pic with Chris! We can only hope that she is kind enough to either email or snail mail the photo to us. That was just sooooo cool! Chris Isaak is just such an incredibly nice person.
The concert was fantastic. i really enjoy the album hits but the concert really shines when he does something new or different. Oddly enough the opening act was a local comedian who did a very good job. Unlike last year Chris looked relaxed on stage but the concert was obviously rushed as he didn't have his usual intermission or even a chance to speak more about his music or throw out a few of his longer gags. But that might only be because one year their tour ended in Phoenix and i think he stretched it out for a good ending. The crowd was surprisingly rowdy. The Smooch bought a Isaak tshirt and had it autographed afterwards. i wasn't able to be with the Smooch as she got a cue from
lolitahaze1 that Forever Blue would be his last song so she could rush downstairs and get in line for autographs. The Smooch told me that Chris remembered her from before the concert taking pics. i wish i could have seen that. He signed her shirt and drew a birthday cake complete with a candle. We bumped into
lolitahaze1 before the concert started but we were unable to find her afterwards. She was on stage with a couple of other girls dancing - something Isaak regularly does at his concerts. She might have found her way backstage. Great concert.
On the way home we got a pizza and a sammich from Nello's in Old Town. Surprisingly at 2:30 in the morning it is raining!!! For a whopping 11 minutes. Yep, it's passed.
