Shutting up rude people
The funniest thing happened today. This guy came in and hadn't been in for 4 months. The rule is that after a month we have to verify information and get ins cards copied again. Well, he was a jerk right from the get-go and wouldn't give me any information. I had to be uber nice and sweet talk him into even giving me a copy of his ins card. When I asked for it, and grabbed all the paperwork I printed off, he was bitching and moaning the whole time about how the hospital wastes so much paper, and how we are continuously killing the trees. I tried to nicely tell him that we recycle everything we can. But he kept going on and on about us being tree-killers. Finally I had had enough and I looked at him calmly and said "Well my dad, grandpa, and uncle are all loggers." I have never seen a guy shut up so fast! It was hilarious. I told him that "the evil tree killers" kept me fed when I was a kid. He kinda mumbled something and then tried to be all nice and ask me where I was from and where my dad worked. But I got my point across, and it was hilarious. I hate rude people. Detest them. This is the third time I have nicely put someone in their place at work, after taking so much bitching and rudeness from them that I couldn't stomach it anymore. I love it when you can shut people up with one comment.
