PSA: projects in the works.
Hi. Since output on this journal has gone down and I keep getting questions, I thought I'd explain why.
As you may have noticed, I haven't been posting much lately. There are reasons for that - serious things going on with my family, for example, money and employment problems, that sort of thing, and "real life" trumps fandom every time in terms of importance. Recently I wrote about the last three months of writer's block, which I'd rather not summarize here, since that's a downer.
Below are the projects I'm working on. Eventually they'll make it up here, if I feel like posting them. But the basic rule behind what I post on the fic journal is this: I write what I feel like writing. If that means I'm in the mood for La Corda D'oro instead of Fire Emblem, or FE instead of Saiunkoku, that's how it goes. :D
[Fire Emblem 11] Anabasis
Minerva-centric story that takes place after the War of Heroes - so technically, it's set after FE3. It explores things like civilization vs. barbarians, cultural prejudice, and the relationship between Minerva and her siblings. Michalis plays a big role in flashbacks. On Barbarism is an excerpt of this story.
The first draft is finished, at around 13,000 words give or take, but it needs editing; scenes need to be added or subtracted, blah blah. Haven't felt like it lately.
[Fire Emblem 10] Whence the Soul
Working title, will probably be changed. Inspired by the Voltaire quote "He who has not the spirit of this age, has all the misery of it," and follows Lehran past the end of RD and into the future, when everyone dear to him is gone. About halfway done, at 4,400 words, maybe a little less.
[Fire Emblem 6] Untitled
An unintentional epic following Percival and Mildain from childhood and onward toward adulthood. It was meant to end with the assassination, but now I'm not sure how far to take it. Currently around 14,000 words.
[Fire Emblem 8] Untitled
Set near the end of the game, in Rausten; L'Arachel makes it her mission to soothe Eirika's grieving. Contains a lot of speculation on her parents, how and why they died, and how L'Arachel really feels about it. I've only got about 500 words, though, because L'Arachel is a difficult character for me to write and I'm not sure how I want to depict Rausten.
[La Corda D'Oro] Chain Reaction
Azuma/Kahoko, a secret relationship that gradually becomes public. The focus of the fic is how this affects Yunoki's friendship with Hihara. Right now I have about 5,000 words, but it's going to be a long one, and I'll probably want to edit it heavily before posting.
[Saiunkoku] Untitled
Fic set just after Reishin passed the Civil Service Exam and married Yuri. Outlined but not yet started.
[Fire Emblem 6] Untitled
Mildain flirts with democracy, sets the Western Isles free, and writes a Masque to celebrate his ascension to the throne. Participants will include Percival, Cecilia, Klein, Clarine, and a very unwilling Douglas.
[Original] The Golden Sigil
A novel-length work, the beginning of a trilogy; will not be posted online. Currently at about 14,000 words.
[Original] Untitled
Based on various strains of angel myth; centers around the angel Raziel searching for fragments of her book with Metatron's help. Set in that very old universe Irwin and I created, more or less, and probably will be posted online once it's finished.
So... I hope that's informative. I'll work at my own pace, on whatever I'm in the mood for. Original work takes the highest priority right now, though. And while I do appreciate feedback, I'm not looking for opinions on what people think I should be doing. I write fic for what I like, and if I just don't like (insert fandom here) right now, it's not going to work out. Sorry about that.
